2012 Loeka Women’s Challenge – POC Eastern States Cup

News

The POC Eastern States Cup is proud to announce “The Loeka Women’s Challenge”. Based on the popular POC ESC Team Challenge, the Loeka Women’s Challenge will pay $1000.00 to the top four women in points, regardless of class. In this unique challenge the beginners have as much as a chance of winning cash as the pro women.

First place prize will be $400, 2nd is $300, 3rd will collect $200 and the 4th place woman will go home with $100 cash. Loeka Clothing is stoked to make this challenge possible for women in all classes of riding.

“We really had great results with the POC Team Challenge last year; it added an extra dimension to the races. The Loeka Women’s Challenge seemed a perfect program to do the same, while giving back to the racers. Women Cyclists are often overlooked. This challenge is targeted to the ladies and we have a great partner in Loeka that made it possible.” Say George Ulmer from the POC ESC.

Rory, Owner of Loeka Clothing, says: “Loeka is extremely proud and excited to present the Loeka Women’s Challenge. We believe the Challenge set up is a fantastic way to get more women into riding and racing. This challenge gives amateurs as much of a chance as the pro’s to take home the prize money. We created Loeka not only to design great clothing for women but also to help build a strong community of female riders from beginners to professionals by encouraging more and more females to try/take up cycling.”

Loeka was started in the Spring 2005 when a friend of Rory’s complained about the lack of cycling apparel for women – lacking style, fit, and comfort. With that in mind, Loeka was born to create a women’s specific clothing line that is flattering to the female figure, feminine without being “girly”, functional, and comfortable.

The POC Eastern States Cup features two USA Cycling USAC Pro Gravity Tour National Series races; the USA Cycling Eastern Regional Championship and five USA Cycling State Championships. The 2012 Eastern States Cup Season has over $28,000 available in cash prizes to amateurs and pros this season. Reaching new heights during its third season, the POC ESC has grown to 14 races. The series is the fastest growing and best downhill mountain bike race series in the USA.
