Levi Leipheimer smoked the entire climb in 46 minutes but had a flat on the downhill to finish 10th. His time is seven minutes faster than 5th place finisher Jason Moeschler. He beat Carl Deckers Strava record by over four minutes. Strav climb segment is here.

Carl Decker put in a stunning peformance using a new Giant 27.5 bike. Adam Craig followed up his 8th place finish in the Winter Park Enduro World Series with a 2nd place finish in Downieville.

Cupertino, CA native Menso de Jong came in at third place in a tight pack that included Mackie Franklin and Jason Moeschler. The recent San Luis Obispo graduate is taking a break from road racing to give his passion, mountain biking, a legitimate shot.

Watch out on Sunday as these guys take on the downhill race which includes Butcher Ranch. All these guys can descend with urgency so expect the All Mountain leaderboard, which combines the Cross Country results and the Downhill, to be shaken up a bit.

I wonder if the word “epic” got used too much in Downieville. I’m sure the ASS will chastise all of us properly if so.
