I definitely doesn’t “feel” like a 29er. It is extremely agile, light, and plows through single track like a monster truck. It is a blast to ride, was not thinking about rear axle at all.

  • Irideon says:

I test rode one but purchased a Stump Jumper instead. I felt like I was sitting on top of the Trance but the Stump Jumper feels more a part of me… if that makes any sense. I am sure it is just a personal thing though.

Can’t decide between a Gaint Trance or Anthem 29″ – not able to do test ride. Any advice would be appreciated. Other option which I rode and like a lot is Specialised Camber. Help!

  • Luis says:

Looking to grab a Trance X1 soon. At 6 feet 2″ and 225 lbs, I’m ready to jump on the bandwagon and whip the horse. I hope it feels right !

Luis – GO FOR IT. I bought a Trance X 2 large frame back in Feb and it has helped me get back into MTB after a 12 year hiatus. I’m 6’3″ 210lbs with pack and can take on trails that I wouldn’t have considered on my 26″ hard tail. Get the dropper post too…awesome for downhill without jacking your jock. I didn’t try the more expensive bikes, just wanted the most bang for my buck and after reading the reviews and owning one for five months…I wouldn’t change a thing.

reading this now might be too late I got I’m trance in nov after waiting 3 months they maybe sold out , super deal as always from giant. no better 29er at any price.

  • Rideordie says:

Meant too say . I just demoed a sc tall boy lt. It was my first time on a 29er the rocks around Reno, Tahoe were gobbled up on the up hill, so fast ! But I’m 6,1/2 200 pds the demo guys and bike shop guys were like yeah u gotta get an xl to prevent back n knee problems later. But I felt. Bike was to big on downhill even with dropper post. I was kinda not to much on top as much as it was just too long and unwieldy. It was a 20.5 I guess. I normally ride a 19.5 trek top fuel team issue 110 full carbon. But I wanna try a giant anthem and trance.

  • Rideordie says:

What size in the giant would I ride considering?

    • Justin says:

Rideordie, you would be a candidate for the large on the Trance 29er. I hope im not to late. What kind of trails do you normally ride?

  • Juice says:

I ride a Trance 29er X2. Changed stem to 40mm, bar to 760mm. Then it felt right. Mine is a “L” btw. I am 1.80meters tall. However my gripe is the slacking seat, plus I feel “tall” on it….during descends can be scary….next upgrade is a dropper post.. in general.. I have learned to love it…
