They both have their advantages depending on the terrain and how technical the trail is. For fast, flowy, easy trails with lots of climbing 29′er hardtail takes the cake. Unfortunately xc racing has become a roadie sport that requires virtually no techical ability which is why you have so many 29′er racing these days. Enduros are becoming much more popular because of this phenomena and I have to say that no bike in particular has an advantage. Sooo for the lame xc races of today the 29′er is king. For real mountain bike racing like enduros or real technical trails like in BC the 26′er is better, fact!
