5th Châtel Mountain Style Contest from July 1st to 3rd 2011 in Châtel!

Châtel, a French resort in the Portes du Soleil domain, is preparing the 5th Châtel Mountain Style Contest which is, for the 2nd year, a part of the Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour and which will take place from 1st to 3rd July 2011…

This downhill mountain-biking international event in freeride and slopestyle disciplines for specialists and amateurs has already registered 20 specialist riders. They come from New Zealand, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, Germany, Sweden or even more from USA or France… These are Steve ROMANIUK, Geoff GULLEVICH, Graham AGASSIZ, Mike KINRADE, Darren BERRECLOTH, Kurt SORGE, Nick SIMCIK, Amir KABANI, Ramon HUNZIKER, Kyle NORBRATEN, Dylan DUNKERTON, Curtis ROBINSON, Julien FOURNIER, Nick MEYER, Ryan MEYER, Mark MATTHEWS, Kelly MC GARRY, Garett BUEHLER, Martin SÖDERSTRÖM et Antoine DUBOURGNON.

20 amateur riders will take part to the event.

All of them come to compete and to win, in their category, this 5th Contest with downhill mountain- biking in freeride and slopestyle disciplines as a common denominator…

They will be judged by a 4-people jury led by Ben Walker (in Scott Team) as a President. All these people took a FMBA training (Freeride Mountain Bike Association). This jury will have to take care about the technique, the fluidity, the involvement, and the figures because to take part to the event, the riders will have to do not only some backflips or 3.6 but also to make a good choice of line with fluidity, involvement and control…

The technical staff is composed of the bike patrollers and Steve Romaniuk, specialist rider (and from Radical Films – Kranked), and will work on the specific track on “THE FACE” whose features are 160 m of difference in level, 300 m long, 100 m wide, which is equipped with natural and artificial units in a steep slope…
