The Double Stryk is voted by us as the model name to be most likely misspelled in the lights category. It's hard enough that Striker is spelled Stryker. Now, the dual version of the Stryker is called Stryk. :)

The good news is this new light is a force to be reckoned with and I think we will be hearing this name a lot. This light catapults Baja Designs into the arena of high-end ultimate lights and it can now compete with the best out there.

The materials and machining is now first rate ast the light body is machine aluminum and the quality is hardly masked by the tan-gray anodizing. The mount goes from zip ties in to a CNC'd center mount. It is a step up indeed not only in aesthetics but also functionality as it mounts the light right in front of the stem.

And finally, the beam is a tour de force as it has a very bright, slightly wide center spot. But it is still complemented by an extremely wide halo for good peripheral illumination.

Now the light does get quite hot when run under in high, even with a powerful fan blowing on it. It did however keep running all the way through the battery for 1.5 hours. The run time at full power is a bit short but like most ultra powerful lights, running it at half power doubles the run time and still delivers and extremely bright beam.

Specifications:
  • Price: $450.00
  • Claimed Lumens: 1800 Lumens
  • Light Head Weight: 136 grams
  • Installed Weight: 470 grams
  • Run Time: 1.5 Hours
  • Measured MTBR Lux: 150 Lux
  • Measured Lumens: 1310 Lumens
Mounting:

Mounting is where this light takes a quantum leap over its Stryker roots. Where the previous generation used zip ties, this new Double Stryk uses an elegant, center-mounted piece. It features a knurled nut it is installed without tools. And three different sized, grooved sleeves are included so proper fit is ensured on both handlebar sizes. It can still be aimed left although that is usually not necessary as this is now in the optimum position.

The mount is so good that users of the old lights users will be clamoring to use this mount with the Stryker. The good news is that is backwards compatible and it is available separately for about $35.

MTBR Light Meter Measurements:

This light measured 150 Mtbr lux on our ambient light measurement facility. This is a staggering amount of light and really puts it in the heavy-hitter category. The other lights in its company are:

Exposure Six Pack, $600- 135 lux

Light and Motion Seca 1400 -$700 - 114 lux

Strengths:
  • First class light head with machining and quality
  • Good lenses and reflector deliver an excellent beam pattern
  • Light switch stays out of the way and closer to the rider
  • Very good center mount
  • Great value at $450
  • Warranty and customer service reputation is excellent.
Weaknesses:
  • Light can get quite hot
  • 1.5 hour run time at high is quite short.
Bottom Line:

This is a stunning light from Baja Designs as it doubles the output of previous light and the price only goes up by $100. With the included new mount worth $35, this is almost a bargain.

The beam pattern is one of the best too as it achieves the coveted 'breadth and depth' balance.
