Real Success for the Razor Snowbike in Châtel on 21. March 2009

March 27th, 2009 by adam

Real success for the Razor Snowbike, the mountain-bike event on snow, which took place on 21. March 2009 in Châtel!

All the conditions were gathered in Châtel on 21. March 2009 for the Razor Snowbike, the mountain-bike event on snow. It started the “Châtel 3 Style Days” event (from 21. to 25. March 2009) organised by “Châtel Evénements” in collaboration with the Townhall, the Tourist Office, the Lifts Organization together with the different suppliers concerned.

If the sun was there, however, a strong wind could be felt in some sites which reminds everybody that the winter season is still there… The snow had a top quality, and 40 racers took part to this event which cannot be missed in that discipline!

Something new was included in the program this year: at 9.00am, a departure in line from the top of Linga 2 for a derby race. The racers could appreciate the very nice point of view offered from the place before going down this mystical slope of the Châtel ski area.

The arrival was situated at the bottom of the Linga stadium after a run of 1000 m difference ending on the 4 cross!

Things went very quickly, because it took 4 minutes 4 seconds and 6 hundredths to the winner, Marcellin Millet, and 4 minutes 4 seconds and 8 hundredths to Yoann Paccard, at the 2nd rank, to do the run ! The highest speed point has been registered at 97 km/h on the GPS, leading to the deduction that 100 km/h has been exceeded!

Early in the afternoon, the racers could appreciate the 4 cross which had a very interesting run, and at the same time all the work done by the resort organization.

The prize giving took place under the tent situated at Linga at 5.00pm, then a meal was served to the racers in a very friendly atmosphere at the same place. Concerts with different groups ended this very nice and busy day : “La Goye” (rock, pop, funk, reggae), “Jabul Gorda” (rock, punk, ska), and “Masaladosa” (electro world), together with Dj’s such as “Tonton Makoute”, “Missié Gwo Zié and BFA” (minimal punk).

For one day, this unusual event made us forget that this sport has its own season!

The appointment is now given for next year by the resort of Châtel!

Introducing Caffélatex, by Effetto Mariposa

March 27th, 2009 by adam

Caffelatex is a new kind of tire sealant.

First, Caffelatex includes a foaming agent, called “ActiFoam™.” Caffelatex foams when
ridden or shaken filling the tire cavity with the latex sealant. This makes setting up
tubeless tires easier because the sidewalls are covered by the foaming sealant. It also
continues to fill the rim cavity when ridden to help keep the tire beads sealed and assist
in sidewall punctures.

Second, Caffelatex is made of synthetic latex and contains no ammonia. This means it is
100% rim friendly and non-corrosive.

Caffelatex is available in 1 liter and 250 ml bottles. In addition, Caffelatex Tubeless
Valves, Caffelatex Rim Tape, and a Caffelatex Sealant Injector are all also available.

CafféLatex™ repairs punctures up to 6mm (MTB) and 3mm (Road), and is ideal for
tubeless MTB and road systems and also repairs tubular and standard tires.

CafféLatex™ has absolutely no ammonia and is 100% tire and rim friendly.

CafféLatex™ is available in three varieties:
• CafféLatex™ 250ml bottle
• CafféLatex™ 1000ml bottle (1 liter)
• CafféLatex™ Tubeless Kit
o 1 x 250ml bottle of CafféLatex™
o 2 x CafféLatex™ Tubeless valves (w RVC) + 1 Presta valve key, & 1
CafféLatex™ Injector
o 1 x CafféLatex™ Tubeless Tap

Escondido CA (March 26, 2009) Nema rider Jared Graves (Yeti / Fox Shox) dominated the 2009 Oceania MTB Championships this past weekend in Thredbo, New South Whales, Australia by pulling a double victory in both the 4X and downhill disciplines!

In the 4X, Graves was at ease on a fast and flowing track which included a variety of line options and gaps, albeit a bit on the short side.  Racing went really smooth for Graves as he qualified 1st by a full second, then proceeded to win every lap all day with ease. “I was in the final with 3 other BMX guys that all were riding well, so it was good fun,” said Graves.

In the downhill competition, riders had a bit of an interesting finals as it had warm & sunny conditions all week.  After qualifying first, in sunny conditions, the weather moved in.  It quickly became cold, overcast & windy.  As the last practice session began, the heavens opened and drenched the track.  Luckily the rains stopped for the men’s finals & Graves was able to put together a great run to take the win by 5 seconds!

“I was pretty pumped to qualify 1st in both events, and back them up with winning when it counted as well…” exclaimed an excited Graves, “it was a perfect weekend!”

Graves is now in final preparation for an exciting start to the UCI World Cup season starting in just a few short weeks in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa!

Nathan Rennie and Mitchell Delfs to race on Atlas FR cranks.

March 26th, 2009 by adam

VANCOUVER – March 25th, 2009 - Race Face Components Inc., one of North America’s leading producers of high-end mountain bike components, apparel and protection, is proud to announce a new partnership with the Gravity Group Kenda/Morewood Team. Rennie and Delfs will be running Race Face’s Atlas FR cranks at all World Cup events for the next 2 seasons.

Race Face ignited the DH race world in the 90’s when it sponsored the France based Sunn Chippie team, ‘The French Air Force,’ and with the likes of Nicolas Vouilloz, Anne Caroline Chausson and, at the time, the unknown junior Cedric Gracia. They quickly became one of the most dominant DH race teams in history. At the time, Olivier Bossard was the heart of the team with his innovative suspension systems. Things have really come full circle as BOS once again surfaces in the MTB world as the suspension technology on the team’s Morewood Makulu DH rig.

A Syndicate rider of 5 years, Rennie hit the podium over 40 times, proving beyond a doubt that’s he’s a force to be reckoned with at any race. Mitch Delfs first caught the international spotlight at Mont Sainte Anne in 2007 and then later that year with a fourth place Junior Worlds result. 2008 saw some top ten finishes at the pro level for the young ripper as well. The talented Australian duo looks to be a serious threat in the 2009 season.

“This is such a great fit for us as we continue to move deeper into the DH race and 4X scene” says Race Face’s Julian Coffey. “World Cup races are usually won by margins of less than half a second and it’s at this level of incredible detail and intensity that we want to compete. Our Atlas FR cranks are the new standard in this highly competitive component market, a place where the ultimate balance between strength and weight must be struck. Easily 50 grams lighter than our closest competition, we’re proud to machine US made OPTIM-AL aluminum right here in BC. We’re producing what we know to be a World Cup worthy product.”

Peter Siulczynski of the Gravity Group: “Joining the group of teams and athletes that Race Face supports is a true pleasure for us. Race Face has a reputation of producing some of the best mountain bike components on the market and it was an obvious choice for us to partner with them. Race Face and the Kenda Morewood crew are highly motivated and we believe we will achieve great things together”.

Look for regular team updates on the Race Face site soon. The Race Face videos page has some recent footage of Nathan and Mitch testing the new rigs in preparation for the 2009 season.

BIG IN BAVARIA

March 26th, 2009 by adam

A massive dirt line and two international high level contests
during the BIKE EXPO on July 25th & 26th in Munich

Munich, March 26th 2009 – Germany will host a high-class dirt jump event called the “BIG IN BAVARIA”. Two contests unite the world’s best mountain bike and BMX dirt jumpers during the BIKE EXPO, the brand new international bicycle tradeshow from July 23rd to 26th. As you can guess, hearing the title “BIG IN BAVARIA”, it’s not only about huge doubles, but also about the biggest names in the sport. Riders like Andreu Lacondeguy (ESP), Brandon Semenuk (CAN), Benny Korthaus (GER) or Darren Berrecloth (CAN) who represent the mountain bike sport, or BMX legends like Ryan Nyquist (USA), Corey Bohan (AUS) or Cory Nastazio (USA) are on the invite list.

Tarek Rasouli, managing partner of rasoulution, the agency which is in charge of the BIG IN BAVARIA, explains its concept: “Munich is well known worldwide for the Oktoberfest and the Hofbräuhaus. A lot of the mountain bike and BMX pros have already been in Munich, riding the various spots and enjoying the Bavarian lifestyle. The BIKE EXPO is the new melting pot for the global bicycle industry and the perfect chance to get the world’s best pros all together. A perfect dirt line, 20.000 Euros prize money for mountain bike and BMX riders each, a unique Bavarian flair, as well as thousands of spectators make the perfect framework for the athletes from all over the globe.“

To present a world class dirt line, the well experienced track builder and long term BMX pro Markus Hampl takes care of the course design: “The BIG IN BAVARIA gonna kick ass! I have 180 meters to build whatever I want to. So I made my decision for a big starting tower with a smooth step down. Six huge dirt doubles will follow, a part of this section will also feature two parallel lines – perfect for transfers. A step up step - down combo somewhere in between also offers some more diversity. I can promise you one thing for sure: there will be massive jumps giving you a lot of air time.”

25 mountain bike and 25 BMX riders have the chance to rock that dirt line. To get glue, what you can expect, the TOP 10 invited riders of each category are:

Mountainbike Top10
Brandon Semenuk (CAN)
Darren Berrecloth (CAN)
Andreu Lacondeguy (ESP)
Lance McDermott (GBR)
Sam Pilgrim (GBR)
Benny Korthaus GER
Trond Hansen (NOR)
Cameron McCaul (USA)
Jamie Goldman (USA)
Paul Basagoitia (USA)

BMX Top10
Cameron White (AUS)
Corey Bohan (AUS)
Dave Dillewaard (AUS)
Luke Parslow (AUS)
Ryan Guettler (AUS)
Alejandro Caro (COL)
Markus Hampl (GER)
Corey Nastazio (USA)
James Foster (USA)
Ryan Nyquist (USA)

The BIKE EXPO is open for consumers on Saturday and Sunday, July 25th and 26th, and offers a well-packed side program. The BIG IN BAVARIA dirt line is the center of the “Park and Ride Zone”, which features a mountain bike test track for everybody, a mini ramp including BMX show, booths of the freshest dirt brands, food and beverage, as well as a big music stage. After the BIG IN BAVARIA BMX finals on Saturday late afternoon, the visitors and riders will go off when they get to see the international music act. On Sunday, the mountain bike riders battle for another 20.000 Euros prize money.

Make your way to the BIKE EXPO and see the bicycle industry’s latest news, get an autograph from the world’s best dirt riders and check their stunning tricks on the BIG IN BAVARIA jumps.

Take your chance to visit Munich. Please find detailed information about the tradeshow program soon on www.bike-expo.com.

KLUNKERZ TRAILER…FINALLY!!!

March 26th, 2009 by adam

As you may or may not know, KLUNKERZ won the ‘2009 Cycling Film of the Year’ at the Endurance Sports Awards at Sea World in San Diego. It’s pretty crazy, considering how long I’ve been out there with the film, but with no marketing or advertising budget it takes awhile (even years!) for people to find out about these things:). Such is the way with independent filmmaking. Anyway, I realized that I never really put a decent trailer together, so know I’ve finally done it. It’s very homegrown in style, not unlike the film itself. With this in mind, it is my hope that you enjoy it for a few minutes, then pass it on to some good friends. I want to say a special thanks to everyone who has supported me on this ride. It’s been a very long journey and, with any luck, it’s not nearly over. Thanks again, everybody.

Ride on,
