Introduction

IntroductionWell another month has passed and we are beginning to feel the effects of old man winter up here on the west coast of Canada. The trails are wet, the temperatures are plummeting, but we are still clinging to the last sparks of excitement as we shred the trails amidst the slippery roots and mud. Summer seems a distant dream, but with ski season approaching, there is something to look forward to. As to looking forward lets not forget that although it’s early, it’s between now and New Years that we begin to set goals for the 2009 Season.

Happy Thanks Giving to our American friends south of the border, we hope you and your families are enjoying your holidays and having a healthy dose of turkey. For the rest of us we are beginning the strange early season preparation for Christmas, things always seem to come faster every year, so set your goals early and get focused sooner than later.

Award

The BC Bike Race wins ‘Get out there Magazine’ Readers’ Choice Award. We have been awarded the ‘Best Cycling Event’ in the Western Canada division. This award is 100% reader choice generated and shows that people truly know when an event has heart and soul. Dean Payne the president of the BC Bike Race was awestruck as this is so early in our event history.

What’s new on the course?

What’s new on the course? We caught up briefly with Rod Camposano course director for legendary days 4 and 5. Rod says in a quick e-mail- “Here are a few pictures of one of the new trails that will start the ‘maze’ and take you to the end of day 4. We have been working hard at getting more singletrack in the west Sechelt area. If there’s time to look around the views are great and the trails are tight.”

“We are also looking at getting more singletrack in the Halfmoon Bay approach (middle of day 4), we were in this area that bypasses a nasty uphill singletrack and hike a bike, this area has the most amount of old roads that I have ever seen. You could say that we almost got a bit giddy.”

Have a happy day
Rod

Thanks Rod, wow did I hear right “more singletrack”!!

Jerseys ‘Around the World’

Jerseys 'Around the World'We are in the process of building a community here at the BC Bike Race, one thing that seems to be popular with our friends and workmates is a desire to travel the world with bike in hand. To that end we are launching a webpage where we can post photo’s of the BCBR Jersey ‘Around the World’, in strange and exotic locations.
