San Diego, Calif. (June 3, 2009) There will be plenty of smiles to go around this Saturday, June 6th at Kimberlee’s Bikes for Kids in San Diego. Not only will 150 underprivileged kids get a free BMX bike and helmet, but they will get other goodies as well.
Pace Sportswear has donated 150 Tour de France cycling caps plus jerseys and shorts. World Jerseys will be providing almost two dozen kid’s jerseys. Mirrycle Corp. will be handing out bicycle bells with San Diego’s Speedplay providing water bottles. And Lexco will not only give out 150 locks but other assorted door prizes, too.
“It’s going to be a great day,” says Dan Gindling, president of Kimberlee’s Bikes for Kids, a 501 (c) (3) foundation. “The industry support for our first year has been first class.”
In addition to the bikes, helmets, locks and door prizes, the children will receive:
- Safety and riding instruction from the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition.
- Tips on fixing a flat from Randy Clark, a well-known San Diego cycling coach.
- Free repairs at numerous San Diego bicycle stores including Bicycle Warehouse, South Bay Bicycles and Holland’s Bicycles.
Preceding the June 6th bicycle give-away, on Friday, June 5th from 6 to 10 p.m. Kimberlee’s Bikes for Kids will be hosting a bicycle assembly party. The event is open to pre-assigned volunteers and media only.
