Breckenridge, Colo.– The first-ever mountain bike stage race in Colorado returns this weekend on its 25th anniversary to Breckenridge, Colorado as MSC # 8 The Fall Classic. We are adding a hill climb Time Trial to the classic Circuit Race and backcountry Cross Country course, for a true weekend of off-road stage racing.
This is the perfect weekend to wrap up your mountain bike race season with one of the best Cross Country courses of the seasons, a free post-event meal on Sunday at the Riverwalk Center after the Cross Country race, and no on-site fees. You can race for the whole GC, or just a stage! Just come on up and race!
The Circuit Race will take place at the Breckenridge Nordic Center on Peak 8 on Saturday, with the hill climb Time Trial following a few hours later starting from Carter Park. The Circuit Race remains primarily the same as in years’ past, but has some creative rerouting to avoid most of the woodchip sections. The hill climb Time Trials features one of the best trails right out of town. It’s a fun climb that winds up the mountain on mostly singletrack. The Cross Country will start at 10 a.m. on Sunday for all categories from French Gulch Road. All details, directions, parking information and start times can be found here.

Racers can register for all three stages and contend for the Stage Race Awards. If you’re keen on racing only one or two stages, you can do that too! You won’t be eligible for MSC Series Overall Points, but you’ll get to race on one of the best XC courses of the season.
The 26-mile Cross Country course tops out at nearly 11,500 feet and takes you on the grandest tour of Breckenridge’s backcountry trails. The notorious Heinous Hill is on the beginning to this epic race where the best all-around racer will prevail.
We will be awarding the Endurance Series Overall titles, jerseys and medals this weekend in addition to the Stage Race Awards on Sunday at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge, Colorado after the Cross Country race on Sunday. We will post results for individual stages, but only award for the Overall Stage Race. A free post-race meal will be served to all racers! Simply bring your number plate to the Riverwalk Center and you’ll be eligible for some beer and food! For more information visit www.racemsc.com.
Great Western Loding offering 30% off published rates for all racers. A two night minimum is required. For more info visit www.gwlodging.com!
You can still register on-site if you missed the online or mail/fax-in deadline without the late fee. Some come on up and experience the best backcountry XC racing in Colorado and see where it all began!
