MOUNTAIN STATES CUP NO. 6 COPPER CUP BRINGS BRAND NEW XC, STATE CHAMPIONSHIP STXC and SD COURSES
Golden, Colo.— The second round of the Colorado State Championship will take place during MSC #6 Copper Cup, at Copper Mountain, August 28-30, 2009.
This is the first time the Mountain States Cup has returned to Copper Mountain since 2002, and the first time State Championships are being hosted at the high alpine ski area.
Copper Mountain is right in the middle of great cycling routes, mountain bike trails, hiking, Copper Creek Golf Course, Woodward at Copper and other family activities. All racers are eligible for special lodging discounts, so you can wake up just steps away from the Copper Cup starting line.
Come check out “Fridays at Copper” on practice day, August 28, with free live music at the West Lake Overlook and a free movie in the Burning Stones Outdoor Theatre at dusk. Guests that spend at least $30 at Copper are eligible for free evening child care. Available Friday and Saturday only.
Book your overnight stay with Copper by calling (866) 837-2996 and mention “The Mountain States Cup” or group code “3GGIRO” to receive your discount today! Camping will not be available at Copper Mountain and it is very limited in all of Summit County.
The courses are all posted at Racemsc.com including downloadable maps for all XC loops and the Super D course. We’ve also got lap counts posted so you know exactly what you’re racing! You can check it out this weekend, August 22-23. The courses will not be officially marked, but there will be course maps posted in the base area.
“The course is smooth, fast and fun from top to bottom. In my mind, it’s a Singlespeeder’s dream,” said Sarah Rawley, public relations for the Mountain States Cup. “Get out there and pre-ride it so you can enjoy the views and the singletrack before you race it!”
Super D will commence at 11 a.m. and the Colorado State STXC State Championship at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 29. All cross country races will take place on Sunday, August 30. Full a full schedule visit Racemsc.com.
STXC State Champions will be awarded a State Championship Jersey during the podium presentation brought to you by Primal Wear.
You can pre-register for the Copper Cup online at Bikereg.com and purchase event gear or visit Racemsc.com to download the pre-registration form. Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26 and all mail/email/faxed entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26.
Bigfoot Productions was established in 2006 in conjunction with Yeti Cycles to expand and improve the Mountain States Cup Series and promote bike industry involvement in racing.
