After the Mace presentation this morning we hit the mountain. Got to ride a Shore One, Six, 5 and Fluid LT. The Shore One is way lighter than last years model and you could feel it. Very easy to throw around but very stable on the bike jumps too. The Six was super fun on the trail, but, being a light freeride bike there was flex in the rear but in handled the upper mountain like a champ.

(’09 CRDsl Monocoque full carbon frame - just hanging around, not getting much use at Whistler)

(RedBull pulled up in something out of MadMax, but instead of guns and arrows out the back it was LCD displays and turntables…????)

(09 Havoc, 5mm lowered BB, shorter chainstays, Flush mount ISCG tabs, headtube designed for integrated headset)

(Some of Norco’s ‘09 city/hybrid bikes)

(’09 Fluid LT One)
Some Notes: At this time I don’t have an answer for when the bikes will be out and when the website will be updated with the ‘o9 line. (Answer - Bikes should start rolling out late Fall and the site should be updated Aug31st.) The head bike dept. guys has gone and I’ll have to get a time frame via email. I will let you’ll know when I find out. Lots of little things have been changed like chainstays, seatstays, drops out, weight and of course the new colors. Out of the six bike I had a chance to ride I was super happy with the Fluid LT and the xxxx. The Shore One is a great bike and the Empire 5 is winning hearts left and right up here, but the top tube is just too freaking short for a 6′4″ guy like me. Couple the other big riders here had the same complaint. And the frame only comes in S and M. The Fluid LT has great specs and geometry, and it even comes with 30″ Sunline bars, point being, you can cut to your preferred size.
Highres images will be in a slide show early next week, and I’ll list out specs for the Empire 5 and other bike if you request it. Also, XC fans, unfortunately Norco didn’t have thier ‘09 XC line up here, some, but not all. I do know there is a new 29er and other nice rides. There should be images in the highres images and I’ve got specs in my notebook if you’d like to know.

When are they going to post the new bikes on their website? and what kind of tires are on the 250 (they’re kinda ugly)
July 18th, 2008 at 8:26 am
Mark -
I believe the tires on the 250 are a custom grey color for norco made by kenda. It actually, at least in my book, looks pretty good in real life. I’ve got highres images to upload later so you can take a look.
Not sure when they plan to have the new products on norco.com but I can ask.

July 18th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Hey folks, I’ve answered some questions in the notes section on the post. I am going to have to wait for more specifics ono release dates/time frames.
Also I’ve got a request out to the head bike guy about any changes in ramping rates and other tech stuff I’ll post later. I have to say, these bikes all running the four-bar design have very different feels between them, some more livily than others. Most of this of course can be changed with tweaking the shox/fork - but kind of hard to fine tune that stuff when you ride 6 different bikes in 10hrs.
Look forward to a slide show of the highres images from Norco’s ‘09 line up and Mace ‘09 line up. FYI - the new Mace gear seems pretty sweet, they put a lot of thought into it even though their categories names for the clothing is kind of lame. But, I guess it helps though who don’t know know what kind of clothes you need for what type of riding conditions.
July 18th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
do you know the weight of the shores?
July 18th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Can you post the specs for the regular A-Line? Do you have a prece and weight? Thanks!
July 19th, 2008 at 12:39 am
The bikes should be rolling out in the Fall as they come in and the website should be up Aug 31st.
July 19th, 2008 at 7:38 am
Would like to see what changes where made to the A-lines. Do the shore 2 & 3 have a new fork from Marzocchi? they kind of look Totem-ish.
Great review Mtbr.

Thanks for this great webpage, Graham
July 25th, 2008 at 9:19 am
Graham,
Not sure what to tell you - your best bet would be to contact Norco directly or a regional distributor.
good luck.

Is the empire 5 going to be sold with any other cheeper componet sets or just the one for $3650. Thanks
July 31st, 2008 at 12:01 pm
I don’t believe that it will come with different/cheaper components.
August 13th, 2008 at 7:23 am
does anyone know whether the havoc will come in all the sizes or is it a one size fits all job? why do th do that with dj bikes, anyway?
August 13th, 2008 at 8:38 am
the havoc will come in S and M
August 13th, 2008 at 9:11 am
same with the 250?
September 5th, 2008 at 10:22 am
The A-Line bikes seem rather heavy. The $3150 Atomik is 42lbs but the $4750 A-Line PE is 46lbs! How can they make the A-Line so much heavier than the Team DH using the same frame? I know the rear triangle is different and the Team is air/air but 8.5lbs? Wow. Something has gone wrong there.
It seems that the Atomik is the bargain bike here.
October 28th, 2008 at 10:29 am
New bikes do not look cool. Norco 05-06 was best.
June 29th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
I’d like to have a Fliud LT… wowW!!
