I went down to the LBS the other to buy more of my usual lube which is \White Lightning\. I’ve been using White Lightning since it first came out. I’ve tried others from time to time but I always ended up coming back to White lightning. Turns out the shop wasn’t carrying White lightning anymore. One of guys there pointed me to the new Pedro’s Ice wax 2.0. To say the least I’m a real skeptic when it comes to trying new things. I really wanted my W.L. but the guy was friendly and I was trying to be polite. He opened a bottle and put some on his finger to show me. I was intrigued. I took the bottle and put some on my fingers and observed that the product has an interesting viscosity. It also has an interesting texture as lubes go. I played with it on my fingers while talking to the shop guy and the lube dried on my fingers leaving a waxy slick residue. I’ve never seen another lube quite like it so I bought a bottle. So far I’ve used it on a couple rides with no complaints. I thought dirt might stick to it more than W.L but it turns out the pro-mo is spot on. I haven’t had it long enough to say it’s better than W.L. but so far I’m impressed…and yes, it is a cleaner lube than W.L. No wax build up so far. I used a different lube on my last ride and noticed a big difference…the Pedro’s Ice Wax 2.0 is better and cleaner which keeps my chain quiet. I like quiet. I think maybe W.L. might have just lost a long time customer.

I was absolutely delighted about mu first bottle of icewax. I used it on my racing bike as well as on my mountain bike in all sorts of weather conditions. I was so satisfied about the stuff that I even recommended it to a friend. He bought a big bottle of ice wax, but wasn’t satisfied at all. I couldn’t believe it and used some of his wax. Strangely the viscosity of his ice wax was much lower and the chain started squeaking already after 50 km. To verify the results I used it several times and the results where unsatisfying all the time.
    How can this be?

  4. Pedro Says:

    Jurgen,

be sure that you have Ice wax 2.0. it is the new formula that R. WIlson was speaking of, above. The short kilometers of effectiveness sure sounds like the old formula.

    Pedro
