Outstanding Auction Prizes For SoCal’s Most Generous Bidders

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.–The SoCal Interscholastic Cycling League has expanded its eagerly awaited silent auction to include online bidding for those unable to attend CycleFest 2008 in person.

Bidding began on November 17th, 2008 at 8:00 a.m., and ends at 8:00 a.m. on November 21, 2008, the day before the first annual CycleFest gala dinner, on Saturday, November 22nd at Ca Del Sol. Since the auction is a major fundraiser for the SoCal League, everybody is encouraged to bid above the retail price of the goods on offer, in the same way that we sometimes get a gift in return for donating to public broadcasting television or radio.

The SoCal League’s founding president, Quintin Easton, has high hopes for the online auction, in which a tempting array of sought-after brands and goods are for sale including ballgame tickets, vacations, bicycles and bicycle components, clothing, eye-wear, artwork and photography, and even hi-tech products.

Quintin is calling on cycling enthusiasts not only to participate themselves, but also to get their community involved. “This is our first year and our first fund raiser, and with the support of our friends and families and their friends and families this auction can greatly help our league grow. Many of the items up for bid are useful to everyone, not just avid cyclists,” says Easton.

Some items are currently listed, but more are arriving daily, so participants are advised to check back often to see what’s new. Favorite items can be watched with email notifications of the latest bids.

Of the 26 items up for auction some of the most alluring are a Turner 19″ 5Spot, a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Pro, a Trek 2008 Fuel EX 9.5, a Crankbrothers wheel set and pedals, several selections from Smith Optics, an eight-day cruise of the Mexican Riviera, tickets to UCLA and USC basketball games, an OBEY track bike, and a two-day getaway to Warner Springs Ranch.

About the Southern California Interscholastic Cycling League

The SoCal Interscholastic Cycling League was organized to provide a well-defined race season for junior racers and to promote the formation of teams at public and private high schools. With the cooperation of local race promoters and our sponsors we are putting together a first class series of races designed for high school aged riders. The League is working to make high school racing the easiest way for juniors to get involved in the challenging and exciting world of competitive cycling. The SoCal League was founded via a generous grant from the Easton Sports Development Foundation II (ESDF II).
