Fox Racing Shox 2010 Product Launch

“I understand that bicycling, motorcycle riding, other motorized vehicle operation and competitive sports and activities, whether on or off road, involves danger and the RISK of INJURY to any and all parts of my body including possible DEATH.”

These words were used in the general liability release I read while sipping coffee with my fellow riders at the Fox Racing Shox 2009 product launch breakfast at Zaca Station. It was mandated that we sign our life away in order to participate in any and all activities planned for us! There was little known about the day, other than the fact that bicycles and several different types of motorized vehicles would be enjoyed by all who wanted to participate.

As I glanced around the table, people either had a look of trepidation or total excitement, no one really knew what to expect! I for one was totally excited!!!! I personally had never ridden or driven most of the vehicles that were going to be on site!

As far as the bicycle product testing was concerned, I heard that most of it was going to take place on the 2007 Santa Ynez Norba National DH and XC courses. This was great because we could actually test the boundaries of the product on a real DH course. I quickly came to find out that the course was really mellow for DH race course but perfect for testing the 32mm forks and RP23 rear shocks that we would be putting on our bikes.

Post breakfast we headed out to the Zaca Station MX Park in Los Olivios California where Mario Galasso gave a detailed talk about the new Bicycle offerings from Fox.

FOX Racing Shox - Warning against Fork modifications

November, 2008

To all FOX Racing Shox Users and Customers:

WARNING

It has come to the attention of FOX Racing Shox that certain individuals and / or entities are modifying FOX forks to accommodate mountain bike wheel sizes other than those having 26 inch nominal diameter. One such modification includes removing material from the lower leg cross bridge in order to fit a 29 inch tire in the fork. Such modification will ultimately separate the lower fork legs at the cross bridge (i.e. the weakened cross bridge will fracture) and may cause bicycle instability and crash that result in SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.

DO NOT MODIFY OR MISAPPLY FOX FORKS

NEVER REMOVE MATERIAL from any portion of a FOX fork. USE ONLY 26 INCH WHEELS with FOX 32*, 36 and 40 bicycle suspension forks. Those FOX forks are designed and tested for use ONLY with 26 inch Mountain Bike wheels / tires. Use of FOX forks with any wheel other than 26 inches and/or alteration or modification of any FOX fork will subject the FOX fork to loads and forces it has not been designed or certified to meet and will void all warranties. The FOX 32*, 36 and 40 models meet CEN and ASTM testing standards ONLY when used with 26 inch wheels / tires and are not recommended or approved by FOX Factory, Inc. for use with wheels larger or smaller than 26 inches, either as original equipment or aftermarket.

DO NOT RIDE ON MODIFIED OR MISAPPLIED FOX FORKS

Proper forks are critical to proper bicycle handling and stability. Improper function or failure of a bicycle fork while riding can cause a bicycle to become uncontrollable and result in a crash. Use of FOX 32*, 36 or 40 forks with wheels larger or smaller than 26 inches, or any other modification, may cause crashes that result in SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. Never ride a bicycle that is, or appears to be, fitted with a FOX 32*, 36 or 40 fork that has been modified and / or fitted with any wheel larger or smaller in nominal diameter than 26 inches.

* DO USE THE RIGHT FORK FOR THE JOB

For those of you who want to ride on 29 inch front wheels with suspension, FOX offers the 32 F29 fork designed specifically for 29 inch wheels. The F29 is available in 80mm, 100mm or 120mm travel configurations and is ideal for tall wheel applications. The F29 is the only FOX fork available for use with 29 inch wheels and is clearly labeled “F29” on the right leg. The F29 should be used only with 29 inch wheels. As with all FOX forks, do not modify or misapply, or ride on improperly applied or modified FOX F29 forks.

DO CONTACT FOX

Do not modify any portion of a FOX fork and do not purchase or use any fork that appears to have been modified. Any FOX 32*, 36 or 40 model fork that appears to accommodate a tire larger than 26 inches in nominal diameter, such as 650b or 29 inch, should be avoided. If any doubt exists as to the originality or proper application of a FOX fork please contact a FOX representative.

Thank you,

FOX Racing Shox

FOX RACING SHOX RELEASES WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP LIMITED EDITION 40 RC2 FORK AND DHX RC4 REAR SHOCK.

Watsonville, CA, November 12, 2008 - FOX Racing Shox is proud to announce their World Championship Limited Edition 40 RC2 Fork and DHX RC4 Rear Shock will be made available for sale in a run of just 200 individually numbered units. In June, 2008 at Val di Sole, Italy history was made when sister and brother Rachel and Gee Atherton of team Animal-Commencal rode to dual victories in the World Championship Downhill race riding FOX’s 40 RC2 and DHX RC4.

The 40 RC2 limited edition has the same damping that was tested, tuned and won on throughout the season. Its performance characteristics are designed specifically to be pushed at the highest level of competition and comes stock with a stiffer Titanium spring than the 2009 production model. Race Manager Mark Fitzsimmons tested with FOX’s top Downhillers throughout the season to tune both the fork and shock for ultimate, winning performance. “The harder these products are ridden, the more rewarding the ride becomes,” stated Fitzsimmons.

The DHX RC4 is a new from-the-ground-up, purpose built downhill shock specifically engineered to meet the demands of the world’s most brutal downhill courses and the athletes that dominate them. External adjustments for velocity sensitive damping and position sensitive ending stroke control act independently of one another allowing the rider to dial in the perfect balance of small bump compliance/traction, dynamic control, and big hit absorption. The World Champion version has been tuned and tweaked throughout the season to perform at the highest World Cup level of competition to give the aggressive rider the extra edge for winning performance.

“These Limited Edition products are the culmination of hundreds of hours of testing and working with our Engineers, Race Support Team and Athletes. Our Race program is not just a Marketing effort, we work year round with the World’s best athletes to develop and improve our products so that we can win World Championships and ultimately deliver products to the end consumer that are best in class,” said Mario Galasso VP of FOX’s Bike division.

The Limited Edition World Champion 40 RC2 and DHX RC4 will be available mid December. Lucky owners will find trading cards with Rachel and Gee’s photos and statistics in the package as well as videos of their winning runs on the Limited Edition owner’s manual CD. Along with the Limited Edition product decals there are also tuning decals on the product to keep track of the owner’s preferred settings. Inquire at your favorite dealer for availability and price.

“THESE LIMITED EDITION PRODUCTS ARE THE CULMINATION OF HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF TESTING AND WORKING WITH OUR ENGINEERS, RACE SUPPORT TEAM AND ATHLETES.”
