MRP Announces 3 new versions of the popular 1.X Chainguide

GRAND JUNCTION, November 4, 2009: With the list of cross country championships piling up from the 2009 season, MRP is proud to announce 3 new versions of the ultra popular 1.X chainguide.

1.X MTB Clamp On: For those riders who have been excluded from the 1.X movement due to their press-in bottom brackets like BB-30 or cranks that aren’t compatible with the BB-mount version. The guide clamps right onto a conventional seat tube, just like a front derailleur.

1.X Cross Clamp On: By popular demand, the 1.X Cross is a seat tube mount guide that will be compatible with CX bikes running a Road Double crank for the optimum chainline. The guide clamps right onto a conventional seat tube, just like a front derailleur. Carl Decker rocked a prototype of this one at Cross Vegas 2009 in September.

MRP TO SHOW NEW CHAINGUIDES AT SEA OTTER

GRAND JUNCTION – April 16, 2009

In the quest for lighter, stronger components, MRP will show a carbon fiber version of their successful G2 chainguide. The new guide weighs in at only 197 grams for the 36-40T size thanks to the carbon boomerang and weight-optimized skid. It also features increased compatibility and adjustability with a new upper arm design. The 32-36T version is expected to weigh in at a svelte 170 grams. The adjustable upper arm is fixed by the upper ISCG bolt, so there is no compromise in added weight to gain the adjustment. The carbon guides still feature MRP’s patented integrated bash guard technology so you can be sure that your drive train will be protected.

“By allowing independent adjustment of the upper and lower guides, the Super-G lets the rider easily dial in the optimum position for each individual bike. This is extremely helpful on some bikes where you might have a pivot or dropped chainstay in the way.” said Ryan Cranston, MRP Product Manager.

Also being released at Sea Otter is the new 1.X (say “won bye”) guide from MRP. This guide has been developed and tested in partnership with Giant XC Pro Adam Craig. The 1.X weighs in at only 58 grams and is perfect for the gram counting cross country rider seeking reliable chain retention for their 1 x 9. There are two sizes available, 32-36T and 36-40T. The guide is bb-mount only for simplicity and light weight, and features a chainline adjustable upper guide to dial it in perfectly.

MRP is a small company based in Grand Junction, Colorado. With countless World Cup and World Championship victories, MRP has been the choice of champions since 1996. MRP’s patented technologies put them at the top as the leader in smooth, silent, reliable chain retention.

MRP Thanks Steve Peat for Service

GRAND JUNCTION, CO November 25, 2008: There are not very many relationships in the mountain bike community as long lived and storied as MRP and Steve Peat. For the past decade, MRP has been the chain guide of choice for a legend in the sport of downhill mountain bike racing.

For a sponsor, riders don’t come any better than Steve. It’s not just about podium visits, which he certainly delivers, but also personality and professionalism. Steve is a class act, and one of the most influential riders that the sport will ever see. He will always be “the people’s champion”.

And so it is with mixed feelings that we see Steve move on to pursue other sponsorship for 2009. Though Steve has been a tremendous asset to MRP over the years, we realize that as a small company, we need to spread our sponsorship dollars to help as many riders as possible. According to Tim Fry, owner of MRP, “The best ways that we can help the sport are to continue innovating and developing the highest quality products and to help riders who are coming up through the ranks. We also want to support local bike parks that make it possible for people to ride.”

We wish Steve the best on his new deal. Good luck this year Steve, we’ll still be rootin’ for ya! Cheers!

MRP will support a number of talented riders and teams for 2009. Also, MRP wants to ensure a continued focus on the next generation of riders by expanding our Grassroots sponsorship programs. If we can help you achieve your goals, look for us at www.sponsorhouse.com.

MRP releases the Mini-G

image0134.jpg

GRAND JUNCTION, June 19 - Following in the footsteps of its highly acclaimed G2 chainguide, the Mini-G is just what the name implies: a more compact version of the G2. With the Mini-G, MRP has designed and built an extremely strong, durable chainguide that is also super light. Boasting a weight of only 219g, the complete Mini-G guide weighs less than most bash rings by themselves! It simply offers the best protection/ weight ratio of any chainguide to date.

*219g complete
*13mm thick replaceable injection molded thermoplastic skid
*5mm thick alloy boomerang w/ weight optimized relief’s and stiffening rib
*Super quiet, high-memory pulley wheel w/ sealed cartridge bearing
*Gold anodized boomerang
*ISCG, ISCG-05, and BB-mount options available
*32-36 tooth capacity
*MRSP: $160.00
*Available in August 2008
*US Patent #7066856

The Mini-G shares many features of its bigger brother the G2, including the extended skid, which protects the lower guide, single bolt attachment of upper and lower guides for ease of installation, and three-point attachment of the skid to the boomerang for added strength and stiffness. In addition, its 10mm of increased ground clearance means you’ll actually contact rocks less often!

Ideal for any single ring application from Downhill to MX to Freeride, the Mini-G has the durability and fail-safe chain retention that riders demand. Cross-country and All Mountain riders will be stoked to drop up to a full pound of weight by switching to a 1×9 setup with the Mini-G.

MRP launches patented XCG Series of impact guards for cross-country bikes

logo10.jpg

Building on their integrated guard patent*, MRP will begin shipping a new, innovative series of components designed to protect chainrings and cranks from damage due to the occasional rock or log encounter. The XCG guards consist of a replaceable polycarbonate Skid direct-mounted to a 4mm thick alloy back plate.

“Lots of cross country riders don’t want to give up their big ring in exchange for a crank-mounted bash guard, nor do they want to add a large, heavy bash ring on top of an outer chainring. With an XCG, you can keep the big chainring on and not worry about damaging it on obstacles. The XCG is light weight, and costs a lot less than replacing a high quality 44T ring, so it’s a great accessory for the fast and technically aggressive XC rider or for any rider looking to protect their investment”, says Paul Aieta, VP of Sales and Marketing for MRP.

image0121.jpg

The XCG Triple and XCG Single install easily on any XC frame and add no rotational weight to the drivetrain. OEM deliveries of the XCG Series begin in April, with aftermarket introduction soon following.

XCG Triple
· Protects triple crank outer rings up to 44T
· Raised upper profile catches chain from inboard drops
· Bottom-bracket mount or ISCG

· MSRP $49.95

XCG Single
