Do Touch! (and taste and test) Products at the Mount Snow Mountain Bike Festival Expo

WEST DOVER, Vt. - August 5, 2009 - Participants in the Mount Snow Mountain Bike Festival will want to cruise by the Expo to have a look at debut products for 2010 or to check in with some of their favorite brands to see what’s in the works. Meet North America’s most celebrated racers, like Geoff Kabush, who won his first World Cup mountain bike race in Quebec last weekend, and learn how his precise choice of equipment made the winning difference on the steep, muddy course. The Mount Snow Mountain Bike Festival plus the US Kenda Cup East, USA Cycling’s Pro XCT Tour presented by Sho-Air, the Kenda Downhill Series, the Trek Women’s Triathlon Series, will be held at Vermont’s Mount Snow on August 7-9.

Mount Snow’s terrain and climate prove a perfect setting to test dual-suspension vs. hardtail; titanium vs. carbon fiber; or skinny mud tires vs. chunky treads. Big wheels will be on hand to stoke the enduring debate of 29″ vs. 26″ wheels and no doubt loyalists from both camps will argue tirelessly over the virtues of each. While no rain is forecasted for the weekend, bikes will still need to get washed and lubed and Pedro’s can help with that. Reminiscent of the Pedro’s Mountain Bike Festival, the Mount Snow Mountain Bike Festival extends the celebration to racing in an atmosphere hospitable to an even wider audience of road and off-road enthusiasts.

Mount Snow Announces New Racecourses for Kenda Race Series

Cross-country and downhill courses offer more of what riders love about riding off-road

Class VIWEST DOVER, Vt. - July 22, 2009 - Mount Snow, in conjunction with the US Forest Service and leaders in the mountain biking community, have redesigned both its cross-country and downhill courses to promote what riders like best about off-road riding. The US Kenda Cup East, USA Cycling’s Pro XCT Tour presented by Sho-Air, the Kenda Downhill Series, the Trek Women’s Triathlon Series, plus the Mount Snow Mountain Bike Festival will be held at Vermont’s Mount Snow on August 7-9.

Since no self-respecting mountain biker would ever spend more time off the trails than necessary, race organizers at Mount Snow proposed a new cross-country racecourse - based on its traditional course - but now with less riding on fire roads. For someone who is at his or her best on trails etched with roots and studded with rocks - perhaps with a little mud to make things “greasy” - the new racecourse will be outstanding. During the pro races, fans will want to look for Olympian and freshly crowned US National Short Track Champion, Adam Craig, since he has historically scored some of his best results at Mount Snow.

Something for the youngest beginner to the oldest pro and everyone in between

DOVER, Vt. - July 13, 2009 - In addition to racing, more than 50 events for all ages and abilities crowd the schedule for the inaugural Mount Snow Mountain Bike Festival. Thrill seekers can test the law of gravity or take a dive on the Slip ‘N Slide while competitors can flaunt their prowess in the Bicycle Limbo, Skid Contest, Tire Toss, or on the single-track, where both amateurs and pros can see who’s really the best in the East. Skills clinics and kids’ activities for the next generation of off-road enthusiasts are interspersed with more than a dozen planned rides, ranging from beginner to expert. Darkness provides ambience and organizers have added movies, fireworks, and live music to the festival’s “after hours” atmosphere. This year’s festival plus the US Kenda Cup East, USA Cycling’s Pro XCT tour presented by Sho-Air, the Kenda Downhill Series, and the Trek Women’s Triathlon Series will be held at Vermont’s Mount Snow on August 7-9.

Mount Snow Hires Industry Pro to Manage Mountain Bike Festival

Former Kenda and Pedro’s Festival Coordinator, Hicks, Designs an Event-loaded Festival

Festival rosterDOVER, Vt. - July 1, 2009 - Renée Hicks, the former coordinator for the Pedro’s and Kenda Mountain Bike Festivals, has joined up with Mount Snow to promote the Mount Snow Mountain Bike Festival in Dover, Vt. on August 7-9, 2009.

“Renée brings a wealth of industry knowledge that will help transform a merely ‘fun’ event into a ‘cannot miss’ bike festival,” said Greg Fisher, marketing operations and event director at Mount Snow. “She’s tuned to what mountain bikers want in a festival, which is riding on iconic East Coast single-track mixed with events marked by challenge, entertainment, and social mingling.”

By hiring Hicks, Mount Snow is committed to replacing what many people have come to know as Pedrosfest during the past 15 years.  The Mount Snow Mountain Bike Festival will feature group rides for all ability levels in all disciplines, games and contests, like the famous mud bog slog and the bicycle limbo. Participants roaming about the venue can visit the exhibitor and tech expo, watch a movie, or join the next generation of off-road enthusiasts in an activities area especially for kids. After dark concerts and fireworks should round out a day of good clean (or dirty) fun.

Running concurrently with the festival are the US Kenda Cup East, USA Cycling’s Pro XCT tour presented by Sho-Air, the Kenda Downhill Series and the Trek Women’s Triathlon Series.

The schedule of events is loaded with something for everyone from the budding mountain biker to the aspiring pro. We’ve even included events for the skinny-tire cyclist. A brief schedule of events is available online at: www.mountsnow.com/bikefestival.html.

Parking for the festival is only $10 per day, activities are free. Camping will be offered or lodging is available via Mount Snow’s website.  For more information, go to www.mountsnow.com.
