BMC is undeniably best known for its road bikes. The Swiss company is a stalwart in the Tour de France world. But its mountain bike line is nothing to shake the proverbial stick at. Arguably the world’s all-time greatest cross-country racer Julian Absalon rides a BMC, and this year the company has finally gotten into the tweener wheel game with its first 27.5” model the Speed Fox Trail Crew.

Perhaps as notable is BMC’s proverbial discovery of colors beyond black and red. “They are finally letting the designers off the leash when it comes to color schemes,” a BMC PR rep told us, while walking us through the 2016 line during the Interbike trade show. That’s evident throughout a line-up that ranges from the teamelite XC slayer that Absalon rides to the speedfox trailcrew with its 150mm of rock garden-eating rear travel.

And while the splash of “enduro” blue might indicate a race pedigree, BMC says the speedfox trail crew is geared to the rider simply looking for a playful, fun ride. Head angle is a DH-friendly 66.5 degress; chainstays are a modest 428mm. The new bike comes in two builds, the full alloy 03 model with Shimano XT and a 150mm RockShox Pike fork ($3900), and an alloy rear, carbon front offering that has a SRAM XO1 drivetrain and the same Pike fork ($5800).

Don't look now, but BMC has finally painting outside the lines with its frame color choices. This is 2016 BMC speedfox trailcrew 03.

And if you are ready to race, there’s still the bike that put BMC on the MTB map, the 150mm trailfox 29er — now available in this blue/yellow offering. Highlights include internal cable routing, copious frame protection, carbon dropouts, and a 160mm RockShox Pike fork up front.
