BMC Team Elite TE01 29 – Ride Impression

29er Cross Country

As the BMC engineers explained, their 3 main objectives in creating the TE01 29 was to make the bike efficient, light weight, fast. The geometry on this bike is definitely race oriented, but that doesn’t mean it’s uncomfortable. The rear wheel is tucked in nice and tight (not easy to do on a 29er) and the chainstay length is 16.8 inches. The frame also features a nice, short head tube, so if you’re a shorter rider (like me) your bars won’t be sky high. At 22 pounds for a medium complete bike (sans pedals) it is definitely light. The weight for the frame(medium) alone is 980 grams. It is available in 3 sizes (SM, MD, LG) and is available at your local BMC dealer now.

Beyond the comfort of the ride, the BMC teamelite TE01 29 also a sharp handler. Even on slower, tigher turns or switchbacks you will forget that it’s a 29er. Even with built-in compliance, when hammering out of the saddle the teamelite rear remains solidly planted without any hint of unwanted “rebound”. Aesthetically, I’m not a big fan of black, but with a carbon bike it makes sense. Like many of their high end road bikes, the teamelite looks sharp with the red highlights and gloss finish.

MSRP is $5500 for an XO equipped complete bike and it is also available in X9, XX and XTR versions. The frame is optimized for a 100mm fork. The BMC teamelite TE01 29 comes with a 3 year warranty on the frame and if you register your frame online, BMC will extend the warranty to 5 years. They also have a crash replacement policy. The teamelite also comes in TE02 and TE03 models which feature the same frame, but different parts group.

If you are a full time or part time racer and are looking for a light weight bike that will be more comfortable than any other hardtail you own, check out the BMC teamelite TE01 29. Even if you aren’t a racer, but want something that is fast, fun and comfortable you owe it to yourself to give this one a test ride.

From the manufacturer:
The fastest carbon hardtail
Cross-country racing: Think again about what it means, about what you need…
You want to be fast. Everywhere and for a long time. For that we built a super light and super smooth bike that handles like a dream. TCC carbon technology and BWC geometry are refined together to get the best ever performance out of the 29er wheels. Confidence + Efficiency = Speed. Isn’t it simple?”
