Kevin Taylor from CamelBak shows us some highlights of their new M.U.L.E. NV with new iNtegrated Ventilated back panel. This new design features four independent articulating pods that move to fit the curvature of your back and provide lift between the pack and your sweaty back. This provides good comfort and fit and keeps you cooler.
The M.U.L.E. NV features:
- Built in rain cover
- Side pockets on waist strap
- Helmet hook
- Pockets: media pocket, bike tool organizer pocket, stash pocket, and overflow storage
- Four point compression
- Comes with 3 liter (100 oz.) Antidote reservoir
- Weight: 860 grams
We have been using the new M.U.L.E. NV for a while now and we like it’s lightweight (but tough) nylon construction. Like it’s namesake, the M.U.L.E. NV holds a lot of gear (total capacity is 732 cu. in.) and is great for those longer (over three hours) rides. Increased airflow is great, but our one nitpick would be that the NV back panel seems to also add a bit of heft to the pack.
If you haven’t used the newer Antidote reservoir, it is MUCH improved over the old versions. The new bigger cap requires only a quarter of a turn and you are sure when it is on right (just line up the arrows). It has built-in dryer arms that make cleaning and drying easier. The hose disconnects easily and spill free. All around a much easier bladder err….reservoir to use.
From the manufacturer:
“The trailblazing M.U.L.E.® gets a first-class upgrade with more room, D-Fit suspension and a revolutionary new back panel that carries your load in all-day comfort. The NV™ Back Panel utilizes individual pods that articulate independently so the entire pack moves in sync with your back, whether you’re crouched in the saddle, charging an uphill section or hucking over rocks. And by keeping the pack elevated off your back, the NV™ system provides multi-directional airflow for maximum ventilation.”
The CamelBak M.U.L.E. NV comes in 3 colors (Volcano/Soil, Black/Charcoal, Sprout/Bamboo) and has an MSRP of $135.00. It is available at your local CamelBak dealers now.
