crankbrothers dreambikes – $29,187 Raised, Ibis Tranny for Auction

News

Laguna Beach, CA, February 7, 2012 – The dreambike auction continues to accomplish great things by supporting Wheels 4 Life. Last week, we auctioned a beautiful bike from the German brand Rotwild. This dreambike is now on its way to a new home in Wisconsin after the winning bid came in for $3,250. Thereʼs another fantastic bike available this week, and as always, 100% of the auction proceeds support Hans Reyʼs charity, Wheels 4 Life.

The next dreambikes auction : Ibis Tranny
Have you ever wished you could have a hardtail thatʼs a geared bike, single speed, and folding bike all in one? Well, with the Ibis Tranny dreambike available for auction, nowʼs your chance. Iʼll let Chuck Ibis describe the bike himself:

We love the versatility of the Ibis Tranny. On first glance it looks like a nice carbon hardtail. But look closer behind the bottom bracket and there’s a little secret. It’s called the slot machine. The slot machine is a clever little addition to the Tranny that provides a very clean and simple way to adjust the chain tension if you want to run the bike in single speed mode. An added bonus of the slot machine is that it allows you to break down the frame into two triangles, thus making it into a travel bike. You can easily fit the Tranny into a case that doesn’t alert the airlines that you’re traveling with a bike, which can result in some serious dollar savings if you ever fly with your bike.

Project of the week
This weekʼs dreambike auction will support a very special group in Uganda called the Village Health Team. This group is organized by a social worker named Agnes Mirembe. Agnes has applied for 37 bicycles that would be given to health care workers. The Village Health Team covers a large area of Busi Island, providing nursing services, including administering anti-malaria drugs and health education about preventing bacterial infection, HIV, and AIDS. They also provide pre-natal care and vaccinations to infants. With a bike, a nurse can quickly cover a larger area, allowing them to treat and educate more people. These bicycles improve countless lives through improved health care and access to doctors and nurses.

To raise enough money to support this project, we have the goal of raising $3,900 in the auction of the Ibis Tranny. This is another amazing example of how one dreambike can change the lives of many. Thank you for helping to make this dream a reality.
