Jon Kennedy stopped by the Mtbr booth to show us two all new 29ers from Diamondback, the brand new 2014 Overdrive Carbon Pro and the Mason FS.
The brand new 2014 Overdrive Carbon 29er is the carbon version of their well known alloy framed Overdrive 29er line. It will come in 3 models: Pro, Comp, and Base and will be available in SRAM X0, X9, X7 packages with Easton wheels, cockpit and seatpost. It also features Diamondback's advanced monocoque molding process. This 1000g carbon XC racing bike will be available this Fall and should offer a race ready package at a very competitive price (pricing has not yet been set.)
The original Diamondback Mason is one of the original "rally" all mountain hardtail 29ers with slackened geometry from the normal XC-oriented 29er hardtail. The all new Mason FS is the full suspension version with the same kind of slackened geometry. It has a 66.5 degree head tube angle, low bottom bracket, 140mm travel in the front and rear, and Knucklebox technology. Also new for this year are the pivot locations, now centered and through the frame as opposed to mounted to a box on top of the frame. The Mason FS 29 also has a increased stiffness in the rear end.
