Lights Shootout Video

MTBR Light Meter Measurements:

This light measured 154 Lux on the Mtbr Lux meter. In an integrating sphere, it measured 1055 lumens.

This $229 Dinotte XML-3 is about as bright as these other systems that are almost 3x the price and twice the weight! The beam pattern is impressive too as it has huge halo and it has a bright center spot.  That means that this light has very good throw and impressive flood for lighting up the surrounding trail.

I have been very happy with the performance of this light. I did break the bar mount in a crash and Dinotte just mailed me the replacement part no charge. Great product, great customer service.

I picked up an XML-3 off Dinotte’s website store. The light output is so uniform, it doesn’t seem as bright as it really is. Other lights have hotspots that look very bright, but are not as useable riding. I ride in city/urban conditions and the XML-3′s light output is great. The road is very uniformly lit and I can see all the chuckholes and obstacles well in advance. Only criticism, is the handlebar mount is not as secure as I would like. The rubber pad under the clamp is too small and too slippery. The rubber strap is limited in how tight you can clamp down. I find the light slips on the handlebar when I push the button switch to turn it on or adjust output. It would have been better to have the switch on the top, so you push down on the lamp. There’d be less chance of slippage that way. Also, a real screw down clamp would have been better.
