Perhaps best known as the co-founder of Niner Bikes, Steve Domahidy is one of the most prolific and original designers working in the cycling industry today. In addition to his work developing the CVA suspension and Niner product line, he was also instrumental in the creation of the award winning Factor Bikes Vis Vires. Most recently Domahidy has been developing frames under his own name, including his latest, the new titanium all-mountain hardtail.

This new model will retail for $4,995, which includes the frame, Pinion gearbox, and Gates belt drive. If you submit your pre-order before March 31st, you'll also get your choice of 27.5" or 29" Industry Nine Backcountry wheels. The front can be ordered with either 100mm or Boost 110mm spacing, and the choice of hub and spoke color is also yours. Expected frame delivery is mid summer.

The maintenance intervals on the Pinion gearbox is 10,000 km (or 6,000 miles).

Built to be a go-anywhere do-anything play bike, it uses a triple butted titanium tubeset paired up with a 12-speed internally geared 1.12 Pinion gearbox. Out back, the Boost 148 rear has clearance for up to 3"x27.5+ tires or 29" wheels. The frame is designed to take anywhere from a 120mm to 140mm fork; Domahidy has his setup at 130mm.

Despite featuring a internal drivetrain, weight isn't too far out of line with a burly all mountain hardtail.

With the combination of titanium frame, internal gearbox, and a gates belt drive, the new frames should be indestructible and almost maintenance free, although one concern would be weight. According to Domahidy, "With a fairly light but usable build, the bikes hover right around 30 pounds with a dropper post, 27.5+ 3" tires and wheels, and a Fox 34 or similar fork."

While retail on these bad boys isn't cheap, all Domahidy bikes are backed by an impressive warranty and consumer program.

Each of the frames is built in Taiwan and backed by a lifetime warranty and 30-day guarantee. If you purchase any frame through the Domahidy website and don't fall in love, you can return it under the no questions asked policy for a full refund within the first month. One final bonus, is that all bike sales include a one year membership to IMBA, plus a free pair of IMBA socks.
