DT Swiss showcases new carbon wheelsets, lighter hubs with higher POE, and wider rims for the plus crowd.

DT Swiss Marketing and Events Manager Shane Hensley runs us through the new XC and Trail oriented carbon wheelsets, as well as some new plus sized rim offerings, and a ultra light suspension fork.

This year DT Swiss was showcasing two new carbon wheelsets, the XRC 1200 and XMC 1200. The XRC is targeted more towards the XC market and utilizes a 21.5mm internal width. Weight is around 1300 g and retail is $2,600.

The ~1400g XMC is designed for the trail rider and has a 25mm internal width and hookless bead. Both the XRC and XMC wheels share a redesigned 240 hub, which uses a higher engagement 32T ratchet ring, and is claimed to be the lightest 240 DT has ever produced.

For the wider is better crowd, there are two new options: the XM481 and XM551. The 481 has a 30mm internal width and is intended to be paired with a 2.5” or 2.7” tire. The XM551 has a 40mm internal width and is optimized for tires between 2.75” and 3”. Both of these rims will be available in 27.5” and 29” options.

Also new this year was the OPM O.D.L Limited XC fork, which uses a new process to help create a tighter carbon fiber weave in high stress to help reduce weight in the crown. With these updates, as well as new SKF seals, weight is now sitting around 1450 g.

    Nothing for 26 inchers DT Swiss? The bike industry is killing the sport with all these stupid changes meant to extract the money from our wallets. F-em: I’m going back to moto. I’m not going to upgrade simply because some poser thinks 27.5 or 29 is better than 26. Once the 26 inch parts fade from the scene (and its already happening) then I’m done with the sport.
