It was another busy Eurobike, with more than 60,000 people stepping into the massive Messe Friedrichshafen trade show halls.

Last week’s Eurobike cycling industry trade show in Germany once again pulled in big numbers. According to organizers, 42,590 industry visitors and 22,160 bike fans strolled the halls of this massive two-wheeled extravaganza where 1400 exhibitors showed off their wares. As usual there was much to see, including some very interesting takes on what the modern bicycle is or may become. Scroll down to see what we mean — and be sure to check out the round-up of all this year’s Eurobike award winners. All photos are courtesy Eurobike.

And then there is this… bike.

Germany’s Cycle Union is the one of the first companies to use the new generation of belt drives from Continental, and has included them in its e-bikes. In these drives, a stepless automatic NuVinci transmission has been integrated into the electric motor.

The e-bike explosion has caught the attention of providers of accessories for mountain bikers. Among them is EVOC, which showed its new FR Trail E-Ride protective backpack to the industry for the first time at the Eurobike. The E in the model’s name refers to its passed pockets for a replacement battery and charger, among other things.
