Four-time South African marathon champion, Kevin Evans (Nedbank Team 360Life), left nothing to chance when he raced his SCOTT Spark 29 RC to a dominant victory over a strong international field at Round 3 of the South African National Marathon Series in Sabie in the Mpumalanga province on Saturday.

The 33-year-old, who has won the National Marathon Series title six times, led the tough 113km race from start to finish, not once faltering in his quest for a race title he’s claimed twice before. The event, which included over 3200m of vertical ascent, doubled as Round 6 of the 2011/2012 UCI Marathon World Series, attracting riders from France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Canada.

Kevin and fellow South African David George are a two man team gaining a toehold in the world of international endurance mountain bike racing. In 2011 the newly formed duo took on the world’s best riders at the Cape Epic, a race never before won by a native South African team. The would be hometown heroes encountered some difficulties in their first attempt delaying their goal of winning the prestigious stage race. The temporary setback only serve to further strengthen their resolve in pursuing their ultimate goal—winning the World Marathon Champion’s Rainbow Jersey for South Africa.

An Epic Tale is a film chronicling the struggles and successes of this pair of professional SCOTT athletes. Watch the film trailer to catch a glimpse into their ongoing journey and follow them in pursuit of a dream.
