Fluid Sports Nutrition was at the Sea Otter Classic and not only were they giving out samples of their nutrition drinks, they were also the Official Hydration Sponsor for the event. If you participated in any of the Sea Otter races or rides, you probably saw their coolers (over 40 of them) out on course, filled with Performance Blueberry Pomegranate (electrolyte hydration drink) helping riders stay hydrated during the breezy but warm 4 days of the event.
They also gave out samples of their all new Cinnamon Vanilla Recovery drink. This flavor is entirely Vegan-friendly formula made with Non-GMO Pea Protein. The Cinnamon Vanilla has a 3:1 carb to protein ratio and 3 grams of the amino acid L-glutamine.
Mtbr’s friend and Founder and CEO of Fluid, Richard Smith explains, “We couldn’t be more excited about this flavor of Fluid Recovery Drink. This is much more than a new flavor for us, it’s about inclusion and living up to our mission. The first time someone told me they couldn’t use our original recovery formula because of a dairy intolerance, my heart sank. Not only is the new flavor dairy free, it is also completely free from soy, gluten, and entirely plant based. Now we can offer a superior recovery option to everyone.”
The new flavor is in production and is now shipping to customers. Smith continues, “Initial feedback from product testers included descriptions like ‘incredibly effective’, ‘possibly the best tasting Fluid Recovery product yet’, and ‘tastes like horchata, my new favorite flavor!’.
We have received a few samples here in the Mtbr offices and the flavor is indeed reminiscent of Horchata. The Cinnamon flavor is light and not over-bearing and the Vanilla provides just the right amount of sweetness. Users should note that if you are using Fluid Performance Drink and Recovery Drink, the mixing ratios for the products are different so be sure read the directions on the label closely or you might end up with a mix that is too light (or too heavy). We applaud Fluid for their strong support of mountain biking!
