We have added a Single Speed category to the 50 mile race. Please make sure you are entered into the proper category before the race. There will be no category changes once the race begins.

Win a KOM jersey from SORBA! The first rider to top the brutal ascent of Cooper Gap will be crowned the SORBA King of the Mountains. This contest will be awarded to both the ladies and the men in the 50 & 100 mile races!

Back by popular demand is the Sweetwater 4:20 Award and the Terrapin Award. The rider who crosses the line the closest to 4:20 PM will receive a case of Sweetwater 420 beer. The last rider to finish the 50 & 100 mile race will receive a case brews from Terrapin Beer Company. It’s not just the front end of the race that makes out at the Fool’s Gold!

The Festival…

Good Times and Trail Advocacy

SORBA LogoThe 2008 Fool’s Gold Mountain Bike Festival is teaming with the Southern Off-road Bicycle Association (SORBA) to create a one-of-a-kind festival in the Southeastern US. Both 55nine Performance and IMBA-SORBA are working together to support improvements of the existing trail system in the Bull Mountain area of Dahlonega, Georgia, as well as to support development of new trails to an already epic area of the Chattahoochee National Forest. 55nine Performance will be making a cash donation to SORBA’s Land Access Fund to support the Bull & Jake Mountain trail systems which was the site of IMBA’s first Epic ride.

The Fool’s Gold Festival will feature organized rides, great food, onsite lodging, bands, games, give aways and product demos from local shops & national brands such as Vassago Cycles, Ergon, Pivot Cycles, TwinSix, Bike29, & Open Window Soap Works. IMBA-SORBA will be organizing their world famous Mystery Ride (aka Poker Ride) on Sunday.
