Gore Bike Wear ONE Gore Tex Pro Jacket

The ONE Gore-Tex Pro jacket is 100% waterproof, very breathable, lightweight and packable.

What is it

Finding a jacket that’s completely waterproof, breathable, packable and stylish enough to wear off the bike is a pretty tall order, but Gore Bike Wear has taken a stab at it with the ONE Gore Tex Pro jacket. This jacket marks the first time that Gore Apparel has applied the Gore Tex Pro material in a cycling application, the most breathable iteration of Gore Tex ever produced, doing away with a traditional DWR-coated nylon outer for maximum breathability. This jacket is far more than just for mountain biking or bikepacking; it’s a full-on mountaineering jacket that can be used for other sports like backcountry skiing or ice climbing. It also features a tailored fit, making it a very sharp looking piece of waterproof casual wear off the bike.

The ONE Gore-Tex Pro jacket is stylish enough to wear on or off the bike. A rear snap flap can unfold from inside the jacket to protect from tire spray.

Mtbr’s Take

There are few jackets in existence that can actually serve all performance purposes, but the ONE Gore Tex Pro jacket fits the bill. It’s breathable enough to wear on a 50 degree day without sweating to death, but it’s also waterproof enough to keep you completely dry in a full on downpour. And with an insulated base layer, the ONE Gore Tex Pro jacket is the perfect shell for cold weather. It’s also incredibly lightweight and packable, making it a lifesaver for backcountry cyclists and bikepackers who might encounter any sort of inclement weather.

Gore ONE Hood

The hood is big enough to fit over a full size helmet

The jacket is loaded with well thought out features like a drop tail to block tire spray, adjustable cuffs, fleeced-lined neck, large zippered side vents, a handy “Napoleon” pocket at chest height, two side pockets and a full zipper that can unzip from the top down or bottom up. Although it might say “Gore Bike Wear” on the shoulder, this is far more than just a bike jacket, and at $500 retail, it had better be. But for the hardcore adventurist, if there’s only one jacket you can have in your bag, the ONE Gore Tex Pro jacket is it.

No, effing, way. That’s a $500 jacket that cost no more than $50 in materials and $25 in labor to make. That is some high-cost BS.
