Review: Grab The Gold – Snack Bar

I’ve been eating Grab The Gold snack bars for over two years now and they continue to be one of my favorite energy snacks. I first learned about them at my local gym after spin class. Since that time, I’ve seen them offered in more and more locations including select bike shops. The gold packaging is eye catching but that is nothing compared to what’s inside. They are made with peanut butter, oats, chocolate and crunchy soy nuggets and they are more like a fresh baked snack than a traditional energy bar. In a word, these bars are delicious! They taste too good to be healthy.

Yet, the Grab The Gold snack bar provides quick energy and sustained energy with a combination of simple and complex carbs. Each 2 oz bar contains 345 mg of Potassium to help with recovery and help fight cramping. They work great either before, during or after a ride. The packaging and oat content don’t lend themselves to eating and riding at the same time, so they aren’t a gu or gel replacement. The oats also provide high fiber content (7 grams) and make the bar satisfying, but won’t weigh you down. Each bar also provides 11 grams of protein from soy, nut and whole grains. There are 193 calories in one bar. For those weight watchers out there, the Grab The Gold bar counts as 4 points. For those of you out there with Celiac’s disease, Grab The Gold is not certified gluten free (but they have had customers with Celiac’s who tried these bars and had no adverse reactions. However, they recommend that you always follow the advice of your physician.)

The Grab The Gold snack bar is moist and delicious. The blend of oats, chocoloate chips and peanut butter make you feel like you are eating “real” food, not just a fabricated blend of vitamins and sugar. Because of the oats, you will want to be sure that you have water or other liquid to go along with your snack, but you should be doing that anyway. We here at Mtbr HQ love Grab The Gold bars and highly recommend that you try one. If your local bike shop does not carry Grab The Gold, they can be ordered directly from their website listed below.

From the Manufacturer:
Grab The Gold™ Snack Bars were created by Danielle Ontiveros when she was only 16 years old while looking for a breakfast alternative. From that humble beginning, she began her quest to bring the best tasting snack bar to the world.

She was originally based in New Orleans, Louisiana but lost her home in Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The outpouring of love and concern from Nashville-area customers brought her to Franklin, Tennessee where she now lives and manufactures the product.

As CEO and Founder, Danielle has successfully grown the business and the brand for over 20 years. Grab The Gold™ has a loyal following all over the country. The company has posted double digit growth for 3 consecutive years.

In the current economy, that is a testament to the product, brand and customer following.
