Low-Profile, Fast-Rolling Tread Pattern Proves The Right Choice

LEADVILLE, CO (CFEpr+) August 19, 2010 - - Team RadioShack's Levi Leipheimer decimated the standing record at the Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike race last weekend, utilizing Hutchinson Tires' Cobra Tubeless Ready tires.

The Cobra, developed with Multi-World and Olympic Champion Julien Absalon, features a tightly packed low-profile tread in the middle, with substantial knobbies on the sidewall, to provide the ultimate combination of fast-rolling and corner-grabbing traction.

Weighing in at only 520 grams for the 127 tpi 26 x 2.1 version that Levi used, the Cobra accelerates super-quickly on flat roads and climbs.

The triangulated orientation of the center knobs provides incredible braking control as well.

Raised-profile side knobs mimic the performance of a downhill tire when it counts most - on hair-raising downhills and through body-slamming ruts like those that took out a number of racers at Leadville.

The Cobra comes in red and black sidewalls, in a variety of configurations, including Tubeless Ready (can be used with or without a tube, and our lightest version of the tire...) Air Light, Tubeless Light and Tubeless Ready with Hardskin Sidewalls, and in 2.1 or 2.25 versions.
