IMBA Rallies The Bike Industry To
Support Proposition 21, the California State Parks Initiative
Bicycling is big business in California and California’s State Parks need your help. IMBA asks your company to sign on to our petition supporting Proposition 21. Due to gross underfunding, in the past two years California has twice seen its state parks on the brink of closure. The backlog of repairs and maintenance for the parks will cost a total of one billion dollars. A “Yes” vote on Proposition 21 would erase this backlog and give parks the funding they need to not only stay open but to continue to offering mountain biking. For just an $18 addition to the California annual vehicle registration fee, state residents will receive a free annual pass and free parking to their 278 parks and ensure their preservation.
Take Action and Sign Your Business to IMBA’s Petition by October 13: Click here to sign on your business or organization.
We need every bicycle-related business in the state to sign this simple petition to show the power of the bike industry to support and pass this important initiative. Retailers, manufacturers, suppliers, tourism-related business, advocacy organizations and others should sign today and spread the word.
It is vitally important that our industry supports the passage of Prop. 21. It would provide the funding needed to advance stalled proposals that IMBA California has submitted to increase mountain bike access in the following parks:
• Auburn State Recreation Area
• Austin Creek State Recreation Area
• Big Basin State Park
• Castle Rock State Park
• Folsom Lake State Recreation Area
• Henry Coe State Park
• Henry Cowell State Park
• Humboldt Redwoods State Park
• Malibu Creek State Park
• Mt Diablo State Park
• Mt Tamalpais State Park
• Samuel P. Taylor State Park
• Sonoma Coast State Beach
• Tahoe Donner State Park
• Topanga State Park
• Willow Creek
IMBA’s simple petition states, “As a member of the bike industry I am signing to support California’s Proposition 21. I believe that California State Parks are an asset to the mountain biking community and support the funding and preservation that Proposition 21 provides.”
IMBA CA’s Tom Ward will present the above IMBA petition with the list of supports to the media at Biketoberfest, Saturday, Oct. 16 . We hope to your bicycle related businesses join the ranks of the hundreds of other organizations in support.
