-Iso Truss technology
-strong and durable
-fast and zippy
Ascend road bike:
-1.8 lb frame
-Iso Truss technology
-super stiff and strong

During development of the all new road bike (which was released to the public for the first time at Interbike), concentration was on frame weight, ride quality, and features.

Didn’t a couple of these snap at the Outdoor Demo?

I heard that it was a headtube on their mountain bike frame that was broken while a rider was taking it for a spin during the dirt demo. That’s a pretty big loss if you ask me, since it’s supposedly around 10 grand to buy that frame. No word on whether or not that sort of thing can be repaired, I would certainly hope so if I was an owner of one.

the mountain bike frame is under 3 lbs.
i wonder how much it will weigh when packed full of mud.

Yes, it snapped. I was there at the demo. We never really saw how it was ridden but it must have been pretty hard but still, it shouldn’t just snap like that. Very nice looking frame though but if it was a 29er frame, I would get one just to hang in my living room, hahaha

My inner legs think cheese grater on a big climb when I look at this frame. I also can’t see wind slipping smoothly around those tubes.

The frame didn’t break. I separated at two connecting points on the steer tube.

Perhaps the word ”concept” bike springs to mind when drooling over this specimen ? In principle a great innovative idea but after all is said and done, is it practicle in reality ? I daresay it is not , pity . However, the industry needs to come up with creative concepts from time to time ( it’s what keeps us on the edge…of our saddles ! ) and this idea , while being innovative to a certain degree, perhaps is ripe for improvement as time goes on. Just look at how carbon fibre frames have improved in popularity and design. Stronger than ever as well. So it’s just a question of time before they ”get it right” and produce an updated version to blow all those doubters away , I say bring it on, without new ideas we won’t see progress thru’ design & trial & error…
