Felt Nine:C1 Prototype. 2.4 lb 29er carbon bike
Psst buddy, want to see some spy photos of prototype stuff? While waiting for the bus to bring us back to the convention center, the Felt engineering elite Jeff, Andy and Tim entertained us by showing us their special 29er carbon hardtail.
Let me preface this by saying that this is a prototype frame that should see about 8 months more of R&D and should be ready as 2009 product. But hey, it’s cool to see the direction these guys are headed right?
So the big news is the frame weighs about 1100 grams or about 2.4 lbs. The bike as pictured above weighs exactly 20 lbs.
The tubes for the front triangle are huge and bottom bracket is very well supported. This translates to impressive acceleration and excellent lateral rigidity. For the rear, it’s all about ride quality and ride quality. The Felt guys like to repeat that phrase a lot.
So here’s looking at the future.
