No-Flat Tire Systems Mounted to Pre-Built 26″ and 700c Wheels for Instant Flat Free Upgrades
Fullerton, CA (CFEpr+) July 2, 2012 - @cme is a new brand created by bicycle industry veteran Steve Boehmke, to expand the bicycle market by eliminating flat tires from the average cyclists’ life. @cme is pre-mounting Hutchinson’s Serenity no-flat tires to professional grade double-wall aluminum rims, in two sizes and three hub configurations, to satisfy the needs of most potential cyclists who are plagued by not having professional supplies or know-how to deal with the inevitable loss of air from traditional tires system. The company is raising initial funding through a KickStarter Campaign that commenced today.
“I think that millions of people don’t ride their bikes because they are sitting in the garage with flat tires,” says Steve Boehmke, President of CFEprPlus. “These people don’t own a good foot pump, and don’t have a bike rack or truck to take the bike to a dealer. So the bikes just sit and get sold at the next garage sale.”
“The Serenity tire system is awesome, but it takes a very specific rim dimension and is somewhat difficult to mount,”Boehmke says. “We are taking the question marks out of the mix and making a one-stop solution for dealers and consumersso that more people can ride their bikes as a daily way of life.”
@cme’s initial offerings include pre-built wheels with tires mounted in 26 x 1.5″ and 700c x 35, with KT 8/9 speed freewheels and flip-flop single speed hubs, and Shimano coaster brake models. Higher-end hub configurations are available.
For Enthusiasts Too
Even though the wheels are attractive to casual cyclists, Boehmke feels that enthusiasts will want a pair of these wheels too. “Everybody I know in the bike industry has a stable of bikes,” continues Boehmke, “This is the perfect wheelset to have on your town bike, fixie or grocery getter. Get up, hop on, and get it done. Voila!”
The tires themselves are rated to last over 3000 miles, and they weigh approximately 1400 grams a pair. “These are not racing wheels, for sure,” Boehmke says, “But for when your ride demands reliability, the @cme wheel system can’t be beat.”
The tires also feature a reflective sidewall that illuminates the bike for night riding. The wheelsets as currently spec’d will retail for @299, and are available on KickStarter for an initial price of $280 a pair.
