I have been wearing the Jett Hornet jersey and shorts for several months, and I found them to be comfortable and durable, and they’re highly functional for all sorts of trail riding. The loose and baggy cut and design, means they are comfortable for riding, hanging out on the trail or around town. The Fort Collins Colorado based company makes some great gear, covering the gamut of mountain biking apparel, including t-shirts, gloves, jerseys, and shorts. I had recently tested a set of their Combat Ice gloves, which I found to be durable and a great cross season glove, and their design and workmanship were outstanding, highlighting the attention to detail and the specific application to mountain biking.
Jett Hornet Jersey
The Hornet is a 3/4 length sleeved jersey that is comprised of a lightweight performance polyester chassis, custom pattern for optimum fit, sublimated no fade graphics, MP3 pockets, anti-microbial material, and sublimated Lycra neck taping.
The Hornet Jersey is a great product that is comfortable and simple, with few unnecessary adornments, other than two small side pockets. Its cut loose and baggy and long, which offers excellent comfort and maneuverability, and the 3/4 sleeves give good sun protection and work well with armor. Depending on whether you were wearing soft or hard armor, you can adjust how far you pull the sleeves down over the armor. The 3/4 style also offers some light protection to your elbows and forearms, which helps when getting whacked by trees and bushes along the trail. It’s a pull on jersey, without any zippers, and although I would have liked a full length front zipper for ventilation and functionality, the lack of one keeps the price down and the durability up. The jersey was very comfortable, and I really liked the open collar, as it was never binding or bothersome, and it just felt right. The jersey has been very durable, and hasn’t shown any signs of wear in the full time usage over the multiple months it was abused, and the typical wear spots by the shoulders from a hydration pack were minimal. The small side pockets worked well for car keys, tools or a munchies and although the pockets have a small media port hole, I never used it in that manner. I would have liked a small optical wipe pad stitched on the inside front, but that’s a minor gripe. The material is comfortable against the skin, and it wicks and breathes well, though not as much as more open weave designs. The material has just the right amount of thickness and weave pattern to offer great sun protection and durability and wickability, albeit with a slight drop in breathability, and all those characteristics make for a synergistic package that functions well.
I really like this jersey, and it often tends to be the one I grab when I am going out for a ride. It’s very comfortable, offers great sun protection, and the 3/4 sleeve design works well with armor and offers some mild protection for the elbows and forearms.
