Just in Time for Summer – runtastic Partners with IMBA

Last week, we posted up a special offer that runtastic was running on their MountainBike PRO iPhone app. I downloaded the app and used it for the first time this past weekend. It is a feature rich app that has a nice, customizable interface and tracks and records your mountain bike rides. Definitely worth checking out and even though the free offer is over, they have a free “light” version in iTunes. For you Android users, an Android version is currently in the works.

The runtastic guys are at it again and our partnering with IMBA. Check out the details below.

School is almost out and summer is about to officially begin. Whether you are an accomplished mountain bike rider or just getting started, it’s a good idea to always carry the right equipment on your ride.

This list from Chris Carter at mtbtips.com is a great place to start.

If you scroll down the list to item #9, you’ll see Chris suggests a mobile phone for emergencies. We think that’s a great idea, but not just for emergencies: If you’re bringing a smartphone, you can also now track your route, distance and speed with runtastic’s MountainBike PRO app.

While we’re on the topic of mountain biking, we are proud to announce that runtastic is now a partner of IMBA, a non-profit educational association whose mission is to create, enhance and preserve great mountain biking experiences. IMBA is an outstanding organization that has members in all 50 states, in over 30 countries and funds over 15,000 trails in the US alone. runtastic recognizes how important it is to support non-profits like IMBA and help mountain bikers have awesome outdoor trails on which to ride.

On the IMBA website, you can find bike clubs and events going on near you, learn about the latest news in the mountain biking world, and buy cool mountain bike gear. Find out how you can volunteer and help IMBA maintain trails; in the last five years alone IMBA and its volunteers have put in over a million hours doing trail work – building new trails and improving existing ones.

So start getting your legs in shape for the summer riding season, and make sure to take your smartphone — and runtastic — with you. If you haven’t already, download runtastic MountainBike PRO and RoadBike PRO apps for the iPhone (Android versions coming soon) now.

Enjoy those great trails — and don’t forget to share your rides with us on Facebook and Twitter!
