The SCOTT-3Rox Racing crew got off to a great start for 2012, grabbing two podium spots at the Mellow Johnny's Classic race season opener. Geoff Kabush led the way for the team by racing to a strong second place showing on the day. Kabush reportedly felt good and decided to test both himself and the competition from the gun, noting after the race, "I had strong sensations from the start and wanted to make sure that the pace was high."

Teammate, Derek Zandstra also produced a strong result, grabbing his personal best on US soil by earning the fourth spot on the podium. Zandstra stayed with the leaders for most of the race explaining, "I was riding strong, but I made a little mistake and the lead group got a gap on me." In spite of his bobble, Derek maintained pace with the leaders and was able to finish with his podium placing intact.

Given the rolling, rocky track, both Kabush and Zandstra chose to open the season on their Scale 29 RC race bikes. "I felt that the 29er was the bike for this course," commented Zandstra after the race.

The Team now gets a bit of a break before next traveling to South Africa for the first race on the World Cup calendar in Pietermaritzburg.
