MICHAL PROKOP TAKES FIRST IN GIANT SLALOM, PRESENTED BY GIANT BICYCLES

Emmeline Ragot Is Fastest Women On GS Course

WHISTLER, BC, August 13, 2010 – The action was fast and furious on the Double Vision course at the Giant Slalom, presented by Giant Bicycles, with Michal Prokop (CZE) whipping into first place for the Pro Men and Emmeline Ragot (FRA) adding more hardware to her pile with another first place win in the Pro Women’s category.

In the head–to-head action of the Giant Slalom finals, Danny Hart (GBR) came in behind Prokop and in the small finals Mario Jarrin (ECU) maintained his lead against Bernard Kerr (GBR).

France’s Emmeline Ragot stepped it up to take first this year compared to her second place finish in last year’s Giant Slalom. Melissa Buhl (USA) came in second and in the small finals Steffi Marth (GER) stole third from Fionn Griffiths (GBR) who fell.

Griffiths wasn’t the only racer to fall victim to the Giant Slalom’s huge doubles and berms with crowd favourite Mitch Ropelato (USA) also failing to podium after washing out on the course. The GS was designed by John Cowan and featured different individual start and finish lanes but racers merged from the start and finish into a shared course that allowed for merging and passing.
