Mount Bachelor Village

Bend, Oregon is a great little town that is quickly becoming a hub of outdoor activities. Whether it is skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing in the winter or mountain biking, hiking, and kayaking during the summer, Bend is a great place to be anytime of the year. If you are seeking a destination that can fulfill your outdoor sports dreams, Bend is the place to be for winter and summer sports and the Mount Bachelor Village Resort (MBVR) is an ideal place to stay when visiting Bend.

Located on the west side of Bend, minutes from downtown Bend and the Old Mill District, and only a few miles away from the Deschutes National Forest, Mount Bachelor Village Resort is perfectly located for accessing a world-class ski destination during the winter and relaxing at one of several excellent breweries in Bend afterwards. Additionally, MBVR offers a free 30-minute shuttle ride to and from Mount Bachelor ski resort on weekends.

With six different choices of hotel rooms, condominiums and luxury homes available at MBVR, there are a number of options to fit every budget. Our group stayed in one of the River Ridge Suites which had an awesome view of the Deschutes River, a very warm and homey atmosphere inside, full kitchen, private hot tubs, gas fireplace, and free wi-fi. Unexpected amenities included a washer/dryer and outdoor gas grill. Large picture windows facing east had us waking up to a spectacular sunrise with the light of dawn revealing a lush green valley and the Deschutes River flowing below.

Our morning started with a power breakfast of yogurt and granola, scrambled eggs, a potato/mushroom/onion/pepper medley, bacon, and a strong cup of coffee. Stocking the kitchen with ice cream and IPAs is an easy task with two grocery stores only three miles from the resort. Everyday at 10 AM, Cog Wild Bicycle Tours was at our door ready to shuttle our group for a day of riding on awesome singletrack that never ceased to amaze us. Our 30+ mile trail rides ended on the bike paths of Bend and an easy pedal back to the condo.

After spending six hours riding the fun singletrack trails outside of Bend led by our guides at Cog Wild Bicycle Tours, it was great to come back to our suite and share our trail stories of adventure and near misses with disaster. A hot shower, sampling a few IPAs, and uploading our photos and videos to Facebook was the evening ritual before heading out to one of Bend's exceptional restaurants or brew public houses - which were only a few minutes away by bike or car. The only difficult decision was whether to stay in the condo and fire up the grill or to explore the wonderful breweries and restaurants of Bend.

Location is always important and staying at Mount Bachelor Village Resort has a distinct advantage being in close proximity Mt. Bachelor and within easy access to all the good stuff the city of Bend has to offer. Equally important is the level of service and cleanliness of the hotel rooms, condos and luxury homes. Our five day stay at MBVR was near perfect. We liked how our condo was cleaned daily, there were not any nasty stains on the bed sheets or carpets, and someone came and opened our condo at 12:30 AM after I accidentally locked us out (subject of another story) hours after the registration desk had shutdown.
