MSC #7 Sol Survivor brings action all Labor Day weekend long to Granby Ranch

Golden, Colo.– It’s a packed Labor Day weekend for racers at SolVista Bike Park in Granby Ranch, Colorado. With the MSC Series Gravity Finale, the kick-off to the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference’s season, and two endurance events, the bike park will be the happening place to be for Labor Day weekend.

Sol Survivor is the seventh venue on the Mountain States Cup circuit. It returns to SolVista Bike Park at Granby Ranch, Colorado for it’s second year running to give all regional racers a taste of what the 2009 USA Cycling National Championships had to offer earlier this season.

The SolVista Bike Park Team has been working hard to sculpt and prepare the race courses and fine tune them for this race.

“We’ve got a great Super D course, a cougar of a DH course, and the Patriot for XC’ers who could ask for more,” said Keith Darner, race director of Bigfoot Productions.

All 4X racing will take place on Saturday with the Pro finals at 5:15 p.m. The 4X course will not use the deck for the gated start. The super d, downhill, cross country and 4X courses will be open for practice all day on Friday and at specific times on Saturday.

Sunday is the big day with the last downhill race of the season. The cross country race, also on Sunday, will use the Nationals amateur course with some modifications in distances and lap counts. The Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference begins this weekend, and the gravity races will be a part of MSC #7 Sol Survivor. Collegiate A racers will practice, qualify and race with the Pro and CAT 1 and Collegiate B/C racers will practice, qualify and race with CAT 2/3 and Juniors. The Collegiate entry fee is $20 per race. If you are competing for both Collegiate points and MSC points, you must enter in each category separately.

Camping will also be available for the weekend, adjacent to the base area. It’ll be $25 per vehicle and permits are good for the entire weekend. You may arrive as early as Thursday and stay until Tuesday.

When you’re not competing, the Granby Ranch Resort Team is here to take care of you. Breakfast foods and coffee will be available for purchase outside each day beginning at 7 a.m. The Outdoor BBQ will be running outside each day with the usual faire. The Seven Trails Grille will be also be open for casual dining.

We will be awarding the Gravity Series Overall titles, jerseys and medals this weekend after the completion of the DH racing on Sunday. The Endurance finale will take place September 11-13 in Breckenridge, Colorado. The Fall Classic Stage Race returns with a time trial, circuit race and cross country in a stage race format.
