At the moment we feel that we should be able to get the Fighter on the market by Mid May 2012. We haven’t got solid a retail price as yet because we are still considering a few options like: offering a helmet bag, rain kit and an extra helmet peak (all in the same helmet box). Ether way the price should be in line with the most well known and established DH helmet brands currently on the market. The Fighter currently weighs in at about 1000 grams.
Fionn Griffiths (Team GR – KTM) – “I have been helping with development on the new Fighter helmet with Airoh for the past few months, We have taken many of the design features from their MX range and brought them to the new DH helmet. I personally like the inclusion of the quick release cheek pads. In a sport such as DH it is vitally important to for medical staff to be able to quickly and easily gain access to stabilise the head in the event of a suspected spinal injury. I’ve had a very positive experience in my test sessions with the new Airoh Fighter helmet and it is definitely apparent that their years of experience in Motorcycle helmet production and expertise come in handy when crossing over to he Mountain Bike Industry. Using state of the art development techniques including a wind tunnel Airoh have really been able to develop the new Fighter helmet to go to battle with those already dominating the global market place for DH specific Helmets.”
Airoh Helmets’ Racing Development Davide Trolli is also very proud of the new helmet. “Airoh have produced an unique DH helmet called Fighter, it is a stunning example of the Italian helmet company’s creative talents. This helmet brings together all the key features asked by our athletes. Fionn Griffiths of Team GR – KTM for instance got involved at the very beginning of this helmet development giving us excellent tips. We have focused our attentions to every little details manufacturing an excellent products featuring safety, comfort, performance and a great design. Now that we are closed to production we will rely once again on our riders experience to get everything perfect before having the Fighter released to the market”.
