Introducing the Jet 9 RDO, Niner’s first carbon full suspension frame.
One of the most anticipated bikes from Bike Press Camp has just been announced. The Niner JET 9 RDO is a full carbon fiber full suspension bike from a company dedicated to ONLY 29ers and with a long history of cutting edge ideas and innovation. Expect this bike to give other carbon fiber 29ers like the Santa Cruz Tallboy and the Gary Fisher Superfly (and the forth coming Ibis 29er) a run for their money. Mtbr.com is currently at the Bike Press Camp event in Park City, UT and we will report back after we have a test ride on this beauty! Could a longer travel, full suspension carbon bike be far behind?
•Carbon full suspension from the only 29er only mountain bike company
•Patented CVA suspension is efficient in every chainring. You won’t find this design on other bikes.
•100mm of race-ready rear suspension
•Compatible with 100 – 120mm tapered forks
•Custom valved Fox Float RP23 with Kashima coating
•Custom forged suspension linkage and unique Niner suspension hardware
•Next generation internal cable routing
•Precise alloy hardware interfaces for brakes and derailleurs (direct mount front der)

The swooping curves and strong lines of this frame began with testing data based on our own and competitor’s products, helping us to determine baseline tube shapes and thicknesses for best performance. Applied to a set of design parameters, this data also drove our targets for strength, stiffness and damping characteristics. The result – an aesthetically striking form whose curves are functionally derived.
Next, we employ the data referenced above in our robust R&D program – computer modeling, physical prototype testing (both in-house and at independent testing facilities), and hours of ride testing under our 10 highly skilled and abusive test riders. This aggressive approach helps us to produce a carbon monocoque frame that far exceeds CEN safety standards and for which we are proud to offer our C5 Carbon Warranty (five years).
The Jet 9 RDO features Niner’s patented CVA suspension (U.S. Patent No. 7,934,739). For those seeking the advantages of 29” wheels combined with pedaling efficiency across all 3-chainrings, CVA is an obvious front-runner. On the Jet 9 Carbon, this climbing benefit, combined with the small bump compliance of a system with no chain growth, means you ride faster and smoother – perfect for a carbon full suspension speedster.
Custom forged linkages contribute to the stellar performance of the Jet 9 RDO – preserving power transfer through the entire system. Additionally, all linkage pivots are outfitted with Enduro brand full complement sealed cartridge bearings for a smooth,
friction-free suspension.
Speaking of friction free – the Jet 9 RDO is spec’d with a custom-valved Fox Float RP 23 with Kashima coating. This silky smooth coating fills microscopic surface inconsistencies for less stiction and better response to terrain.
The looks may attract your eye, and the CVA suspension may appeal to your intellectual side, but the design features of the Jet 9 RDO will convince the luxury lover in you to take the plunge. This frame features next generation internal cable routing for a clean look, precise alloy hardware interfaces for direct mount brakes and post mount disc-brake mounts for weight savings and good looks.
The Jet 9 RDO features our C5 warranty – We maintain that our carbon fiber testing and design rivals the best in the bike industry. Rather than just talking about it, we choose to demonstrate this commitment via our 5 year warranty and commitment to customer service.
The new Jet9 RDO frame retails for $2599.00 and includes a custom-valved Fox Float Kashima RP23 rear shock and titanium anti chain suck protection plates.

Wow, very curvy, very nice.
Any idea of the weight?
frame weight please
Looks like the bastard child of a Tallboy (lower pivot) and Anthem 29er (upper pivot/shock). Nice looking bike! What’s the weight?
5.1 lbs for medium frame with shock
Perhaps the biggest news about the Niner JET RDO is that it will be available at select Niner dealers starting next week! July 1 availability!
@gregg
1) which dealers in Washington,DC area will have this frame around July 1?
2) weight for Large and Xlarge frames, please ….
@pete
about 5.3 for the large and about 5.4 for the XL
There is a certain amount of variance due to the paint. The all black color (black licorice) takes less coats, whereas the black and white (vana white)…the white requires more paint (to cover the black carbon underneath).
I have a photo of a SM size frame and shock on a scale showing 5.01 lbs, I will post that later.
As far as the dealer in DC that will be stocking early, the guy who knows that answer is not here at Bike Press Camp, but I will try and email him for you.
That is SEX-AY!!!
Is it correct that it is 4 inches travel and not 3. Will there be an aluminum version and will it have 3 inches?
That bike looks mean as hell.
I have a spe’d up Air 9 Carbon. This would go really well in th stable. But first I have to work out how to sell my Yeti Asr 5!
Sweet looking rig! Definitely on my “must-have” list for 2012.
You should have left the travel alone. Now you’re just another company playing it safe at 100mm.
what is standover hight on the small frame?
Love the color schemes, very sexy curves, and nicely equipted. Love those SRAM cranks! Nicest looking FS 29′er I’ve seen yet. BLING!
Conte Bike Shop in Arlington, VA is the only Niner dealer I’m aware of in the DC area. Looks like they took the Tallboy colors (black-Orange) and combined them. Looking forward to a demo soon!
Damn!!! Now I want a Jet9 instead of a RIP9.
Anyone know the Cost for Frame?
Never mine 2599.00 see it above!
