The Niterider Mako series is the affordable option for the budget-conscious commuter.  It features AA batteries (included) to keep the price affordable and to allow the user to put fresh batteries any time.  It also features a Cree LED and a reflector like the one found in more expensive lights. This allows the light to control the beam pattern more efficiently.

Side lighting is also available through three slots on each side. This is consistent with the commuter target for this light where side visibility is important to enhance visibility to side traffic.

Finally, a good quick-release mount is available just like the ones found in the Minewt Series of lights from Niterider. This mount allows single-hand locking of the light and it allows side to side aiming.

Specifications:

  • Price: $50.00
  • Claimed Lumens: 130 Lumens
  • Light Head Weight: 133 grams
  • Installed Weight: 164 grams
  • Run Time: 25 Hours
  • Measured MTBR Lux: 11 Lux
  • Measured Lumens: 92 Lumens

Mounting:

Handlebar mounting is done with a quick release mount that works quite well once snug. It can be aimed left to right.  There is a bit of shake on the light head on very rough roads or trails. But it’s  really not an issue for commuting.
