Cortez, CO – March 3, 2011 – Osprey Packs, Inc., a leader in creating top-quality, high-performance, innovative packs to comfortably and efficiently carry gear, has announced their latest support effort for the Breast Cancer Fund, the leading national non-profit dedicated to identifying and eliminating the environmental causes of breast cancer. Osprey has produced a special, limited-edition version of their popular women’s multisport hydration pack, the Verve 10. $4 of the purchase price of each pack will be donated to the Breast Cancer Fund, with a minimum of $5000 guaranteed by Osprey. The pack is currently available at select U.S. Osprey dealers and at www.ospreypacks.com.

The special edition Verve 10 is amethyst with a front pocket screen of the iconic Breast Cancer Fund prayer flags that carry messages of love and healing and help to support breast cancer prevention. As with all Osprey packs, the Verve 10 is free of BPA, PVC/pthalates and triclosan.

“We are committed to the Breast Cancer Fund and their vital work in making the world a healthier and safer place for everyone,” said Gareth Martins, marketing director of Osprey. “This season, we are proud to show our continued support of this important organization through these special edition packs designed specifically for women.”

Osprey has been a strong supporter of the Breast Cancer Fund for several years. Since 2005, they have been a corporate sponsor of Climb Against the Odds, the organization’s annual mountaineering expedition that has raised over $5 million to support the organization’s groundbreaking work to eliminate the environmental causes of breast cancer. Last year’s ascent of California’s Mount Shasta was especially personal for Osprey, as the team included Osprey ProDeal & Program Pack Manager Sarah Harper Burke. This year, Osprey is supporting Osprey Rocky Mountain territory sales representative, Leta Sharpe, in the Breast Cancer Fund’s Climb Against the Odds that will be taking place on Mount Shasta in June.

Verve 10

The women-specific Verve 10 is ideal for gals on the go, be it mountain biking, trail running or day hiking. In addition to Osprey’s signature Hydraulics features – the BPA- and PVC-free  HydraForm™ reservoir and HydraLock™ System, which holds the water load securely, compressing as it empties, thus minimizing water slosh and bounce – the Verve 10 is equipped with:

  • LidLock™ helmet clip
  • Top zippered pocket for quick access
  • Elastic sternum strap, with magnetic bite valve attachment
  • Cell Phone / MP3 pocket on shoulder strap
  • Blinker light attachment
  • Reflective graphics
  • BioStretch™ harness
  • Spacer mesh backpanel for a lightweight, yet supportive and ventilated fit
  • Detachable webbing hipbelt with modified straight ErgoPull hipbelt closure

Osprey Packs

Independent since 1974 and anchored by the design genius of company founder and owner, Mike Pfotenhauer, Osprey Packs has long set the standard for creating innovative, high quality gear carrying equipment.  The collection includes packs and bags designed to help adventurers enjoy their outdoor, biking and travel pursuits.

The location of company headquarters in Cortez, Colorado, near the rugged San Juan Mountains and on the edge of desert canyon country, provides a constant inspiration and a superb testing ground for Osprey products. Osprey also maintains a product development office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, near the factories where they manufacture their products, ensuring face-to-face relationships and transparency with their suppliers. In 2010, Osprey opened a design office in Mill Valley, California, a hub of design talent and the birthplace of mountain biking. All three of these offices play a crucial role in creating Osprey gear that lasts a lifetime.

To celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2009, Osprey launched the All Mighty Guarantee, an enhancement of a lifetime warranty that was already one of the most robust in the industry. Free of charge, the company will repair any damage or defect in its product – whether it was purchased in 1974 or yesterday. Every Osprey product reflects the company’s commitment to protect the wild places its customers love to explore.
