I went down to the LBS the other to buy more of my usual lube which is \White Lightning\. I’ve been using White Lightning since it first came out. I’ve tried others from time to time but I always ended up coming back to White lightning. Turns out the shop wasn’t carrying White lightning anymore. One of guys there pointed me to the new Pedro’s Ice wax 2.0. To say the least I’m a real skeptic when it comes to trying new things. I really wanted my W.L. but the guy was friendly and I was trying to be polite. He opened a bottle and put some on his finger to show me. I was intrigued. I took the bottle and put some on my fingers and observed that the product has an interesting viscosity. It also has an interesting texture as lubes go. I played with it on my fingers while talking to the shop guy and the lube dried on my fingers leaving a waxy slick residue. I’ve never seen another lube quite like it so I bought a bottle. So far I’ve used it on a couple rides with no complaints. I thought dirt might stick to it more than W.L but it turns out the pro-mo is spot on. I haven’t had it long enough to say it’s better than W.L. but so far I’m impressed…and yes, it is a cleaner lube than W.L. No wax build up so far. I used a different lube on my last ride and noticed a big difference…the Pedro’s Ice Wax 2.0 is better and cleaner which keeps my chain quiet. I like quiet. I think maybe W.L. might have just lost a long time customer.

please can you tell me how much cost a complete tools…I am from bosnia…thank you

I was absolutely delighted about mu first bottle of icewax. I used it on my racing bike as well as on my mountain bike in all sorts of weather conditions. I was so satisfied about the stuff that I even recommended it to a friend. He bought a big bottle of ice wax, but wasn’t satisfied at all. I couldn’t believe it and used some of his wax. Strangely the viscosity of his ice wax was much lower and the chain started squeaking already after 50 km. To verify the results I used it several times and the results where unsatisfying all the time.
    How can this be?

  • Pedro says:

    Jurgen,

be sure that you have Ice wax 2.0. it is the new formula that R. WIlson was speaking of, above. The short kilometers of effectiveness sure sounds like the old formula.

    Hi,
I’ve just purchased a 1 l bottle of Ice wax 2 because I’ve been super content with the 1.0 version which I received in Pedros’ cleaning set.
But … this new IW is totaly different, has a way higher viscosity and is more a cream. Besides the annoying part that it leaves heavy residue between the chain links and on the sprockets, sI have serious doubts that due to the high viscosity it even penetrates deep enough in the chain, rather only staying on top of the links.
First I thought the cold in transport/storage might be the reason but the high viscosity remained even after several days in warm place.

Please advice, otherwise I’ll start to mix it with some thin chain oil :(

    best, Marko

ditto to the viscosity. does not seep into the chain like the prior formula. i’ve had more buildup of dirt than usual. applying it is much harder than the prior, which just flowed better.

Ditto again to above 2 responses. It was also a pain to squeeze it on the chain. I’ve used the previous version for many years and was totally happy with it. I’ll continue to use what I have left but may have to look for another chain lube – real pity as I totally like the original Icewax. FYI, I called Pedro’s Customer service to discuss Icewax 2 and problems with it, but haven’t received a called back as yet.
