Race Face Doubles Up On The Radness In Whistler
VANCOUVER, BC – Race Face Components Inc., renowned North American producers of high performance bicycle components, protection and apparel, today announced that it has signed on for three more years as the official components and protection sponsor for the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. In a second separate deal, Race Face has been inked into freeride cartel infamy with Kokanee Crankworx. The two brands reached a three-year agreement that sees Race Face setting up shop West Coast style, just to the right of the main stage.
The conclusion of these latest deals will mark a decade of Race Face support at the world’s consummate gravity fed resort, Whistler Blackcomb. Race Face provides all Whistler guide and rental bikes with a full dose of Respond and Atlas FR components, as well as some one of a kind anodized D2 Ltd stems for the guides. Every year, Kona ships the custom built Stinky and Stinky Deluxe bikes direct from the Kona factory to Whistler.
Race Face also supplies a full line up of protection, including the new Flank knee which features d3o™ Intelligent Shock Absorption™ technology. Visitors to the park will have an opportunity to test the best in Race Face components and protection at the Whistler Rental shop at the base of the mountain.
“As the Official Supplier of components to the Whistler Mountain Bike Park for the past seven years, we have put Race Face’s best to the ultimate test.” says Rob McSkimming – VP Business Development at Whistler. “On average, our rental bikes clock more than 1,000,000 feet of vert each summer. Every single Race Face product has been able to take all the Park can dish out and more. That is why we continue to run Race Face components on our fleet of 190 bikes for the next three years. We are absolutely thrilled.”
“Whistler Bike Park defines what a world class, lift assisted riding destination should be. This is a huge milestone for us, and we’re grateful to be able to play in our own backyard as we do for as long as we have. Our association here is the quintessential opportunity, to not only test what we make, but to help continue to build the gravity scene,” says Race Face’s Julian Coffey.
“In similar fashion, the Kokanee Crankworx festival is a veritable institution of all things gnarly. Race Face is stoked to be right in the middle of this annual freeride asylum – three phenomenal years of glory and carnage!”
As a Crankworx sponsor, Race Face will be on hand to support all of their riders, including slopestyle chargers Paul Basagoitia, Graham Agassiz, Casey Groves and Mitch Chubey. Dangerous Dan and the Flowriders will also make their radness felt with daily shows on the Crankworx opening weekend.
Race Face soon to be MTB Hall of Famer and media dynamo Brett Tippie will be in full effect with daily race and event reports courtesy of Whistler Creek Productions. Aiming high as always, Tippie will also host several key events throughout the bike festival, including the Block Party and the highly lauded Saint Deep Summer Photo Challenge. Tippie takes it late night as he hosts the Race Face and Pinkbike presentation of BCDC, Wednesday August 11th. Part of the Deraylor Music Series, the baddest band in freeride will rock GLC as only they can.
