Multi-time world and national gravity champ Brian Lopes looks to be pretty comfortable on his new Intense Tracer 275, as he absolutely blazed the field in the Leaping Lizard race down Telonics trail in Laguna Beach, Calif. on Sunday.

Brian’s friend Chris Schulz was kind enough to send us his cell phone video of a portion of Lopes’ run—including some color commentary by none other than Richey Schley.

Almost as insane as Brian’s race run—Schulz’s artwork at christopherschulz.com.

About the author: Don Palermini

Chicago-born editorial director Don Palermini became a cycling-based life-form in the sixth grade after completing a family road bike tour of his home state. Three years later he bought his first mountain bike to help mitigate the city's pothole-strewn streets, and began exploring the region's unpaved roads and trails. Those rides sparked a much larger journey which includes all manner of bike racing, commuting, on- and off-road bike advocacy, and a 20-plus-year marketing career in the cycling industry. Now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area and pedaling for Mtbr, his four favorite words in the English language are "breakfast served all day," together in that order.

what tires does he run? I live in Aliso Viejo off canyon vista and want to try some new tires. I have the nevegals in 2.35 but am looking for some faster rolling tires if possible. Most pictures i see of his bikes just say kenda on the tires but thats it.

Not sure about Laguna, but at Sea Otter, his bike has a Honey Badger on the back and the new Nevegal on the front with X Fusion suspension.

Thank you Shred Man!!! I think I am going to wait for the updated nevegals before i spend more money on tires. The maxxis ikons are very scary to ride in aliso/laguna beach area. When in a turn they wash out bad.

Duane, we’ll ask him. Hang tight.
