Santa Cruz enters the 650b/27.5 wheel size party with the introduction of the 150mm travel Santa Cruz Bronson all mountain bike. While not the first, this product introduction is very significant because of the brand and reputation of Santa Cruz. It took them many years to join the 29er revolution but the Tallboy quickly became their number one selling bike. Now they enter the 650b arena very quickly and they are will offer it in aluminum as well as carbon versions. The frame models and pricing are as follows.
5.3 lbs is indeed ground-breaking for an all mountain 650b bike with six inches of travel. Mtbr reviewed many of the available 650b bikes earlier this year and it was a fascinating round up but most of the bikes tipped the scales at 30 lbs since the frames were in the upper 6 lb range like the aluminum Bronson. The Mtbr all mountain bike round up is available here.
In full kits the options are as follows.
Bronson R AM – $3399
Bronson SPX AM – $5199
Bronson Carbon R AM – $4150
Bronson Carbon SPX AM – $5899
And then there’s the hallowed XX1 version with Enve carbon wheels:
carbon, xx1, enve wheels and the CTD fork: $10,419
